You need to flip it so the actual light is shining into the tank and ideally it should be long-ways on top of your tank instead of width-wise.

Just curious, why do you have your basking light over the water dish and what are those two lamps that you have over the basking spot? They don't appear to be producing any bright white light, which is necessary to bask properly.

Hope this works, I've only ever posted 1 pic on here before and never use photo bucket
Anyway, this is my newly built adult enclosures, typical 4x2x2. I have one female german giant/sandfire (top) and one leucistic male dragon (bottom). They have been housed together since hatching and even though they've never been aggressive towards each other I decided to give them their own homes. Functional but not pretty yet since they were just set up a day ago, no backgrounds yet and very basic basking sports so far. Will have to work on that, plently of ideas from this thread alone! I'm making a 3rd enclosure the same lenght, half the height and split in the middle to make 2 small enclosures. It will eventually go between these cabinets and house my leopard geckos. Any suggestions welcome!

ive kept my viv pretty simple but am hoping to get a bigger one and decorate that some time next year when i can afford it. I used to have some foliage in there but i found that the hoppers and crickets were hiding it in so i took it out. Nothing special really but hopefully it will be when i do it next year.

this is a few months ago:

ok so in order from left to right the lights are as follows
1. the night heat bulb
2. the ceramic heat day bulg
3. the 10.0 UVB repti-sun 18 inch tube (is it long enough for a 75 gallon?)
4. the 150 watt day bulb
if i need to rearrange the light just let me know .as you can see he is on repti carpet the last time i measured the basking temp hoveres from 100.0 to 103.3
and on the far right by the water i got around 86. that was last week. he is now on a diet of roaches, mixed approved vegi's, and he has tred a few(2) small horned worms.

Okay, your bright white bulb there on the right should be your basking bulb. They need bright white light to bask under just like the sun. A ceramic heat emitter should not be used for daytime unless it is only to supplement the bright white bulb and get the temps up higher. Using that only as your basking source is not at all sufficient. They do not need a heat bulb for nighttime unless the viv temps get below 65 at night. Bearded dragons need that cooling off period or can become stressed. Your night heat bulb (if you need it to keep the temps above 65*) should be the ceramic heat emitter though, not a colored bulb. They require a proper day/night cycle with bright white light during the day and complete darkness at night.

And to answer your question, in my opinion, no, your UV light isn't long enough for a 75 gallon tank. A 75 gallon is about 4ft. long, however, only 18 inches of it receives the UV light and right now, not even that because the UV light is on its side point OUT of the enclosure.

Honestly, if you just consider what would be common in their natural habitat it will all make sense. Australia is hot, dry and fairly bombarded with bright white sunlight. At no time then would they ever bask in warmth but not sunlight. Where bearded dragons come from the foliage is typically short and scrubby which means that it would be rather rare for them to ever bask in warmth but not light.

Something else, do you have probe thermometers on your basking and cool side? I don't see anything in the pic.

Wow- Truely awsome! How did you make the mountain? I was thinking of doing something kinda similar, but don't know what to use that's non-toxic, etc... Please let me know. Again, it looks Beautiful!

we used syrofoam/spray foam to form the pyramid and the mountain, then used grout (5 layers), painted it all, and used a non-toxic sealer. i got the idea from this site actually.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
