To say I'm in awe of the vivs I've seen posted here is an understatement. But, I tried to make do with what I had and this is what I came up with yesterday after about 8 hours worth of cutting, screwing, hammering and so forth. I know it's nothing compared to most of the vivs posted here, but I had to get Xena out of the cramped aquarium she was in and into something bigger and some place she could call her home. The viv is 32" x 20" x 30" and was made out of mostly scrap wood we had in our shed.
I'm not completely finished with the viv yet as I still need to put up a bed for her so she has a place to go hide. One thing I have found very interesting though is she insiste on digging deep in the sand we put in her viv. Some sources have said if she is trying to burrow deep it may be so she can lay eggs and seeing as if she was housed with a male before we got her, it's probably not out of the realm of possibility that she is pregnant. Time will tell.
Anyways, as I said, we're not done with this just yet, but at least it's a start. At least she has a place to call home now which is more than she had when we adopted her.
