I've already turned it to it's not as close, the fixture is screwed to the top of the tank, so I can't move it, but i can swivel it around. Do you reccommend getting a lower Watt bulb? Right now I have a 75 watt ZooMed, but they do have 50 watt ones....I'm experimenting before i get the dragon  I also have a 35 Watt Halogen Flood light I got from walmart to try...

Oh, and the temp on the basking side is around 96-98 at the moment, but i am leaving it on to see how high it climbs...I'm gone for work during the day so I'd hate to come home to a burnt beardie!

The Viv does have vents on either end and along the back :)

The only problem with lowering your wattage is that your temps will go down, 96-98 is a little low, if your getting a baby, it needs to be 100-110. Are you using a reptisun 10 along with your flood light? What are you using to measure your temps?

It's good you have vents, but I think your going to have to change the position of your light? :(

I actually just repositioned the log, now the light is at least a foot away. I am using the ZooMed Thermostat and probe. Its not directly on the basking spot, its a bit to the side, so I imagine the real temp is somewhere around 100 degrees. I am actually planning on getting a sub adult. And yes, the reptisun 10.0 is running along the top as well, and i've made it so the lizard CAN get within 6-8 inches of that.

Well finally got the new tank for Newt. Not her final one. I do intend to make her a tank eventually. But this is what I've got to work with until then. I know I need to fix her UVB and I need to get tile.....tackle each mountain one at a time...

A new tank. Is housing 2 babys right now, but as you can see its divided. As soon as my other tank comes in I will be taking one of them out and putting it in the other one. The tank is 36 inches long by 18 inches wide by 24 inches tall. Both beardies are 7 inches nose to tail tip, so they should be fine for the next month..... right? Thats when I expect my other tank to be available. Right now each baby has 324 inches of floor space as of now now.
I am waiting on the repti-sun 10.0 to come in the mail, so im giving each baby some sunshine time everyday. Be it on my shoulder working outside or in a wire cage I made a few days ago.

Heres his/her home. 20gallon long tank. I plan on buying a 40gal breeder when I find a stand to accommodate it.

Just finished a custom 46" x 2 x 2 VIV. I need the 46" so it would fit where I wanted it to. I used Oak Plywood and a non toxic water based Semi-gloss for the finish. 24" reptisun 10.0 uvb lamp, 50w indoor/outdoor halogen basking lamp from Home Depot on a dimmer, a 25w clear bulb on the cool side for added light, and a 50w black night/heat lamp. I am using this instead of the CHE because I have been using this for the 3 months that we have had her so she is used to it and it aids in a night light for the kids since the VIV is in their room. 16 x 16 Tile on the floor. I put in a trap door on the top so we can just drop in the crickets from the top, she's used to that already.
The rocks are made from Styrofoam with 3 layers of sanded grout and a textured paint over it with 6 coats of modge podge over that. I know they are not original looking I used other peoples ideas but it worked the best.
I was testing the basking spots heat from the 10 gallon she was in for about a week so I knew what to make the new basking temps.

Before - 10 gallon, with the garbage basking light and desert uv light that the breeder sold me.

My 4x2x2 with fake rock action - what a pain in the butt this was. And relax about the sand, he doesn't go anywhere near there, and there is about 8 oz. of it in the whole thing, it's just to cover the area that the slate wouldn't fit (I don't have the means/wants to cut the tiles). 50 watt basking bulb on the left keeps the immediate basking area around 106, 36-inch reptisun 10.0 along the back, and a 60 watt household bulb on the right to raise the "cool" temps a tad.

I guess I'll toss my ghetto leopard gecko tank here too (20 gallon long). I'll eventually make some fake rock stuff for here, but my wife will murder me if I cover the kitchen in styrofoam pieces again.

We just moved in today! By "we" I mean Odahviing. She ended up climbing up onto the left hand castle/hide I made for her without the ramp (that I also made), so I took it out. It gives her extra space to skitter about. I have two UVB tubes set up in there for when one begins to die off, I'll cycle the old tube to the back and insert a new tube. I have a SolarTech solarmeter I invested in. I figured it was worth the money. I also have a handheld thermometer to spot test. There're two spot wired probe thermometers and a hydrometer. Obviously, there's a hot bulb. I also have a ceramic heating coil, put away, and a wire cage for it. Winter's do get chilly, and her small viv did get cold. I think this one will get much cooler, given that it's significantly larger. It's two feet deep by four feet long by eighteen inches tall. So... Here it is!

She's a foot and just at 100 grams! She's turning 4 mos old. Yay! <3

I did put more pics in her photostream, but that's enough spam for here. :p

((Odahviing is huge! Mine's 8 months and only 14", I think I got a mini!))

And the one he has now with my first attempt at a fake rock and some driftwood I found down by the river. Just for the record he has never touched the hammock!

Evergreen, I kind of love the pterodactyl. That's my favourite part. :-3 Felix has such stunning colours. What a handsome guy. Odahviing is pretty massive. She's got one heck of an appetite. We took forever to finally let ourselves conclude she was female between her growth, her appetite and her extremely dominant, bordering on aggressive (toward other animals [the cats] and playtime) behavior we really believed we had a male. Turns out we just have a crazy tomboy. Maybe Felix will spurt, or maybe you do have a little 'un. Either way, he's gorgeous and a lucky wee guy!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
