Just wonderin, how do you guys clean after your beardies poop? If youre using tiles? Wood? Or even linoleum substrate? Im using tissue paper and its quite hard to clean because my beardie moves the tissue out before pooping, thats why im looking for a better substrate i can use.. :)

haha i have a linoleum floor to mine.... its sooo easy to keep clean, his viv never smells!! :D
i use tissue to wipe the main poo off, then it can easily be flushed away, then once ive got most of it up, i use baby wipes and scrub the floor, then a couple of times a week i clean everything in the viv in a mild bathroom cleaner solution mixed with water.... i've done this since bilby was a baby and it has never harmed him.
He's a clean freak though... does anyone elses beardie go crazy to come out once its done a poo?? when he poo's i know he's done it coz i can hear him scratching the glass and walls to get out lol... don't know if this is just him or if all beardies hate being in their viv when they've pooed??

I pick it up with a paper towel, wipe off the area with anti-bacterial wipes, and them wipe it off again with plain water.
LOL, I've had beardies hid at the opposite end of their viv, and not move until I clean up their present they left me.

You can find it probably anywhere you can buy flooring. No special type you need to buy for the viv. I have puff on tiles but I coated it with the minwax that I use on the fake rock I made. Makes it easier to clean but needs to be reapplied after a bit. I wipe it up with a tissue or toilet paper and then have a container of hand sanitizer and a old tooth brush. Yes, He goes nuts when he poops also. Normally before he goes. He doesn't like to go in his viv but now that it's summer he doesn't spend much time in there anyway. He roams around the house.

You can get the linoleum at the hardware store, but they usually only sell it in huge pieces. I had some left over from a different preject, and it was a decent color so I just used it LOL. I really want this really cool flagstone pattern stuff that I saw at Menards, but the smallest piece I could get was 12' x 2' ! Bummer.

haha yeah... he goes mental away from it but if its left in, when i come back, he's run through it all, hidden under his hide and is dark in colour and stressed.... so then it's bath time for Bilby.... he's a funny little character....

Are they the adhesive kind that are sticky on the back? Because if they are, you shouldn't use them because the glues are known to let off toxic fumes when they are heated. The non-adhesive kind is safe, but the adhesive kind is not.
Just making sure, because pretty much all of the linoleum tiles (in the US anyways) are adhesive.

yes they are, but i've had them since he was a baby and the tiles don't give off any fumes.... is there any proof of this anywhere that they give off toxic fumes which harm beardies or just another myth, as i have regular check ups at the vet and he said that he's a picture of health :)

i understand people might not wish to use them but i've always used them... and they're the best thing out there i've found...

supposedly TSA scanner don't give off any harmful radiation but i'm not gonna subject me or my family to it because of no symptoms that may arise from it. All i'm saying is why take the risk if you love your beardie.

I can't find the thread I'm thinking of, but I've heard of mysterious beardie deaths that may have been caused by adhesive fumes. I guess I can't find any scientific proof right now, but adhesive tiles were never meant to be used in reptile cages under really high heating conditions, so I don't think the manufacturers thought of that when they chose the glues for it! IMO it's better to be safe than sorry, and slate or ceramic tiles aren't much more expensive.

?? tsa scanner what... i love my beardie to the moon and back... and i don't believe these give off toxic fumes??? many people use sand as substrate which has much more chance of causing serious problems with beardies.... the tiles i use have caused absolutely no problems with my beardie or anyone elses i know who use them...

Unfortunately vinyl flooring does not pass the green test in the kitchen, in fact, in some cases it fails miserably. However there are companies out there determined to get environmentally conscious vinyl production and recycling onto the right track. There has been enough progress in this department over the years to generate an active debate on vinyl's behalf in this matter.

From a health perspective vinyl flooring does make for an easy clean, however adhesives and other products used to treat vinyl are also nasty culprits. In the past toxic fumes released from vinyl floors made this product a well known health risk, however the industry has much improved since then and today the health risk is minimal but still there.

there's a risk of choking on a piece of food, or getting run over crossing the road....as it says minimal.... there's a minimal chance that you could get hit by a car tomorrow, but i'm sure this won't stop you from crossing a road?

it's personal preference.... i'm sorry if you disagree but i will not change this and all the people i know will not change it either, it has worked for years with no problems.... and is the best for keeping the viv clean and my beardie has no risk of impaction.... nor has any health issues....

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
