the vet called us today and said they got the fecal results back and he is negative for parasites, so i'm confused as to what it could be that makes him not want to eat? i'm keeping him on his meds for the next 2 or 3 doses as i was told but they had no idea what it could be & neither do i. we bought some reptaid so after his medicine is over would it be okay to give him a few doses of that if he's not feeling better? thanks in advance.

Well, that's good news that he's negative ! I wanted to mention earlier in the thread that it was not a good idea for him to give meds. with no diagnosis. Some pet store babies just need extra time before their appetite kicks in, or even any baby that is suffering from re location stress. Ther'e no need to continue the meds., they can cause a decrease in appetite themselves. Hopefully he'll start eating for you soon.

well he has been with us a month. it was just weird and i knew something was wrong with him because he went from eating like crazy for us even the first night he was home to almost nothing, and then went on strike for 3 days before the vets. i'm still making him eat a little bit of chicken baby food to keep some nutrients in him. he licks it from the syringe so i'm not shoving it in his mouth. if i stop the meds would it be okay to give him some reptaid?

here he is tonight before bed. i think he ate a cricket tonight and he had chicken baby food and pedialyte this morning. i dropped 5 in with him and left him alone for an hour to see if he would eat and one was missing when i came in to take them out so here's hoping he'll work his way up to eating. we've decided to stop the meds and just try some of the reptaid and probiotics, i don't like having him on cipro if they have no clue what he has.

Sorry to hear about your little one. Good idea stopping the antibiotic since the fecal results were negative. Would be a good idea to give him frequent baths because meds are very drying and can stay in their system for a while.

Glad to hear you have a UVB light. Could you fill us in on the brand & type (coil, compact, strip fluorescent), and what the distance is of it? What are the tank temps, where exactly are you measuring them and what type of thermometer are you using? How often had you been dusting his feeders with calcium & vitamins?

When he starts eating crickets again, make sure they are no larger than the space between his eyes. To make them easier for him to catch, you could put 1/2 dozen in a ziploc bag and place them in the frig for a few minutes.

Please be sure to keep us updated on him and if you could answer the questions for us, that would be helpful.

i've been giving him warm pedialyte baths daily, he really loves laying there and getting splashed :p

we have the walmart undercounter fixture and a new reptisun 10.0 coming in tomorrow or tuesday since i thought ours may have been old or something. we just decided to buy a new one, and we put it inside the tank with strips instead of over the wire now.

he's eaten a few crickets and a waxworm today, he's also been running at the side of his tank whenever i sit down next to it to watch him. i posted these in another thread but here's the pictures of him today again. :) we're still going to start him on some reptaid tomorrow along with probiotics continuing to get his appetite up. dont mind the mess, we have dogs & he hates veggies so he kicks them everywhere.

Hello,

I hope your new light gets there soon for you!
I agree, I never condone prescribing meds without some type of diagnosis. At least his fecal came back negative. It could be as simple as stress from improper UVB lighting.
The reptaid will be fine to start him on along with probiotics, also. I hope he starts to eat a bit more for you.
Keep us posted on him.

the reptaid is helping his appetite :) he even ate a leaf of his cilantro today even though he hates his veggies! he's getting picky with crickets and he's eating like 5 waxworms a day and a few crickets.i figure he has a lot of weight to make up for. 8 grams was way too tiny. isn't he handsome today?

he's looking much better in the past 2 days. it's weird how he went from deaths door to hyper and hungry. he also needs his log washed already even though i just washed it yesterday! he's passing a lot of urates since i've been giving him a lot of baths to keep him hydrated.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
