vet check question

Loki had her first vet check yesterday. The vet said she's looking good. She weighed 344 grams. She does have parasites, so they gave her one dose of panacur at the visit and I have one dose to give her again in two weeks from now. He said he would be happier if she was a better color and said I should be giving vitamins every other day, and calcium twice a week. I was doing the opposite based on what I've read here, so does that sound right?? Is he saying that based on her color and what he thinks she needs?

Actually, color does not depend on vitamin intake, but depends on genetics, and the amount of vitamins he suggested is too much. Beardies get lots of vits. from their diet [ hopefully a good diet ] and they need more calcium supplementation than vitamin.

Yeah, I don't know why vets are saying that about calcium... Mine said the same thing... Curious if this is something in a recent training, or out of date training.

I took this same concern to these boards, and it is simple as this... Calcium 5 times a week, Vitamins twice a week (not every other day as your vet recommended.) As they grow older they need less Calcium, but not to that extreme of twice a week.

Well, I told him that Loki isn't that keen on her greens. She's slowly starting to eat more but at best she eats 4-8 small pieces of mustard greens or dandelion leaves each day and maybe 1 or 2 small pieces of yellow squash. She's all about her crickets tho, going through anywhere from 50-100 a day. He seemed concerned that she might have some deficiencies due to not receiving proper care before I got her, but didn't want to put her through the stress of blood tests and xrays because overall she appears decently healthy and he was happy to hear that she has all the lighting, diet, vits and calcium now. I just don't want to overload the vitamins.
