Vest for Bearded dragon service animal

Pippin is my servce animal. I need her with me to help with PTSD related panic attaks. Before I realised how much she helps me, I was bascialy an agorophobic. I have all the paper work from my phycatrist and all I need is a vest for her so people don't give me trouble. I need something comfy and that can be slipped on and off and still look offical. I've tried contacting companies that make vets for service dogs, asking them if they would think outside the box and make a super small vest for a lizard but they wouldn't so I am on my own. I think I could make one myself but I have no clue where to start? What type of fabric would be best, what kind of closure would be the best and where could I get it embroiderd? I think cobolt blue would be the best color. Pippin is seventeen inches long and eight inches across. If anyone here is good at sewing beardie sized items, I will happily comission you.

that's awesome that pippin is able to help you with your panic attacks! i am not very crafty, but it seems like we have several crafty people on this site. hopefully someone will come along and help you out

I'm not sure about the fabric or the colors but you can make something that wraps from the bottom and velcros on pippins back. Just put his 2 front arms through and then it can velcro on the back. I don't know much about sewing and stuff but, when you say vest a idea came to mind.

maybe velcro? You could have a pocket sewn into it to fit one of those hand warmer thingies too. That would probably come in handy.

I wanted to mention, you might have to have it registered as a service animal. I would check your areas laws on that.

it depends on what your looking for and how long u have to make it Id have to do some research but i can give you ideas how to make one

also: little bit of info SCreen print is cheaper than embrodery. Also If you want it offical looking the color needs to be orange. any other color makes it kinda personal and its not as "offical service animal" looking.

get two large leather gloves, one that has some kind of frabric insde of it, take one and cut a large section from the palm and a section from from the top, you will then have two pieces to work with. cut them to shape and sew or velcro together. you may as you visualize the glove be able to incorporate the finger holes for your beardies front legs. i would buy something expensive that will last. with the other glove you can think outside the box, and make your beardie one for weekends.

She has a lizard leash but she needs a vest stating she is a service animal. She dosen't mind wearing it so I think I could attach a leash to her vest incase she tried to jump and so people will know I'm not going to let her run amuck all over the store. Is there an offical color for physcatric or autism service animals? I think having it embrodered would make it more offical looking along with a patch that says, "Hands off! I'm working!"

That is the neatest thing I have ever heard. I have read about service horses, pigs, cats and spent time with dogs, but this is the first service beardie I've read about. Wow! :mrgreen: :study:

I'm so glad you get to take your beardie, I have anxiety problems and was prescribed stuff but it made my depression soar so I stopped taking them. I take Thil to school with me so I can handle classes so I know having them around is wonderful! I hope you figure out something to make and I hope you get along great

Thinking here, being the crafty seamstress as well. How about looking at doll clothing. Trying to think what size doll would be appropriate but look around for a doll top (shirt) that maybe you could adjust to fit your beardie. If it was a t-shirt sort of top, you could cut it down the back and sew velcro so that it closes like a shirt.

I'd also look into that Ferret leash idea as well. OR ...I know it's not BLUE but what about a motorcycle safety vest (or any of those safety vests) that are that NEON orange. You could make something out of that .

The leash I am mentioning is actually a vest with a leash attached to it. there should be a way to put service animal on the leash. It is mesh though so not sure how to do that.
If I can I will post a picture of hermes with that leash tho I think he got too fat for it.
