I have a 1 year old beardie who's diet consists of crickets, peeled peppers, waxworms, and a variety of leafy greens. now that he is getting older I want to get him off of waxworms as his secondary insect, and onto something more nutritious, as I don't want him to have his baby fat when hes not a baby :p. anyone have any favorite insects that your beardie prefers? anyone have a veggie that's not a leafy green that they like to feed them? he really likes peppers but I want to expand his palate a bit, as after a while he does get tired of peppers (takes him like 3 weeks to go through one)

As far as insects my dragon loves her Dubias and superworms. Supers are higher in fat compared to other insects but certainly something I'd recommend to anyone looking to expand their dragons variety, as long as their dragon is old/big enough of course. They are cheap and easy to care for and they can be gutloaded which is always a plus. And most dragons go crazy for them :) you can also explore hornworms as a healthier treat and Black solider fly larvae (aka calci worms) as a healthy staple insect.

For veggies, the only way I can get my girl to nibble at her salad is if I add some shredded butternut squash, yellow squash, or sweet potato. All are healthy things you can test out.

based off of your guys' responses it seems like I need to buy some squash! I just tried feeding him some raw broccoli today and he seemed to really like it. I read that it's hard for growing beardies to get enough calcium without supplements, I bet broccoli really helps with that

Broccoli is one of those things you want to feed very rarely. It is bad for your dragons thyroid and can make him/her ill of feed to often

No problem. It does have some great properties in it and is perfectly fine to feed once in awhile, just not too often. I believe it is beautiful dragon.com that has the list of safe veggie that can be fed, I definitely recommend checking that out. That entire site has great info

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
