So I have the Mega Ray 160 watt mercury vapor bulb for my basking and uvb. Is this okay for a month or so until I can get the reptisun 10.0?
Her temps and stuff are all good, she’s eating just fine, and seems happy
…. but is tricky to get the basking spot temperature right (38 degC to 40 degC) while also getting the UVA flux and UVB flux right (aiming for 200 microW UVB / sq.cm & mW UVA (1000 microW UVA) / sq.cm @ the basking spot) from an all in one light source.
It is possible but will take a little trial and error.
There should be some technical data provided on the box (in an a pamphlet) to gives guidance on how to set this MVB in a tank for a bearded dragon.
See this for broad guidance : viewtopic.php?f=34&t=235611
==> the 160W MegaRay MVB will need to be mounted 4 feet from the basking spot (this is a very strong globe) , even mounted ontop a metal mesh lid (blocking 40%) of the UV , a distance of over 2 feet to the basking spot is needed.
I suspect the 160W globe will be too hot , can you tell us the distance from the bottom of the globe to basking spot and the temperatures you are seeing , and how you are measuring these temperatures.
I suggest going for a 100W MVB , will likely work better.
