UVB inside or outside tank?

Hi, I just wanted to be sure I had my my UVB right. I have a Zoo Med ReptiSun 10.0 UVB Fluorescent T5 HO Bulb for both my dragons (in separate tanks) outside the tank on the screen with a reflector, about a foot from Steves basking spot and about 6-8 from Sappires basking spot. Should they be mounted inside, or is the bulb better off outside on top of the screen?

If you can keep 12" from the lamp then inside is fine. Otherwise outside, about 10" away. 6-8" is probably a bit too close IMO.
