I'm thinking about getting a uromastyx, and I've done a ton of research. But, experience tells me that experienced people/owners are the best source for information. I realize that there are different requirements for different breeds of uromastyx, but I am interested in a beginner breed, and everything I would need to know! Please share anything you've got!

So far I've learned the following basics:
Temp: 110-125, 80 on the cool side
Food: same as beardies, but 95% veggies, 5% insects
Substrate: bird seeds
Tank: minimum size 50 gallon breeder
Must have a hide/cave
Temperament: varies individually, but very similar to beardies

Any other info would be greatly appreciated!!! THANKS!!!

I would minus the insect all together. That's just my opinion.

As far as a breed goes I would go on the http://www.deerfernfarms.com/ 's web site and read the info they have on what is the best beginner breed what be best. They have all that stuff you will need to know also. Just great breeder people and info on that site.
Good luck,
Mike
