Holy cow. I've seen some dragons, and that one ranks right up there for shocking.
Tiny amounts of protein, lots of Oxbow ASAP - you're going to want small feedings, very very regularly. With a case like this, I'd offer a few millimeters every hour, as much as she's willing to take.
Keep the temps high PERMANENTLY - she's going to need a whole bunch of warm to help her recover.

I'm guessing you're in the US - I'd report that "guru" to your nearest animal protection league immediately too. If there's a dragon in this state, odds are good that other animals are too. That person needs prosecuting.

Do you have paypal? I'm happy to convert some dollars to help out - I can't send much, but I'm sure my dragons won't mind sparing some of their treats money.

Catching up on this story and wishing you the best! That is one of the skinniest dragons I've ever seen! Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping she pulls through.

I do have paypal but I'm not big on the idea of accepting help like that. It makes me feel terribly guilty. Thank you for offering though.

Still pulling through. (Found out he was sexed wrong today. That was fun.) still very listless and thin but eating twice as much as before. He isn't a fan of force feeding at all but it needs to be done.

He does look much better already, so that's good to see. :) Remember to go slow with the protein, sometimes they will seem to be gaining but then die suddenly because their organs [ kidneys ] can't handle it.....but some dragons do pull through, so he may be one of them. And keeping him warm overnight as one poster mentioned is good....just not TOO warm, that could dehydrate him. A night temp. of 78 -80 is fine.

Keep up the good work, hope to see this sad fella to become a happy dragon. :)

I gave him a super worm today for the first time since the protein issue was mentioned. He's had plenty of veggies since. He ate a full 6 bites today. Twice as many as he could handle on day one. My room has probably been hovering around that range. I turned the heat on for him but I also have the fan on for me since I can't sleep unless the air is moving.

Hello,

Great news then he is at least responding to the food. How do his eyes look now, are they starting to fill out on top of his head yet? That area is basically a fat pad where they retain water & fat essentially.
We are all pulling for him & you are doing a terrific job for him. Keep us posted on him. I hope he is sleeping well too.

You'd be very welcome to any help I can give - any dragon, I'm happy to help - I have several "internet godscalies". A bit like godchildren, but ... lizardy, you know?

Keep up with the purees and the veggies - progress WILL be slow, but don't get tempted to go nuts on protein too early. Also be advised that six months is your true(r) success mark - many severely mistreated dragons make a roaring recovery, and then "burn out" around six months. Slow and steady is better than what looks like a miracle healing with dragons.

I keep a large 10ml syringe handy so I can keep track on how much a rescue is taking in, and how they're improving day by day. Don't forget to add a little calcium in the mix, again, slow and steady. If you haven't already, pop him on some weighing scales and take measurements regularly - best sign of progress, IMO.

Both my "trainwreck" dragons are still very small in stature, but they're ... dense. They're weighty with muscle and fat storage these days. My latest rescue has a little way to go, but thankfully he didn't have such a rough start - he's got great muscle definition, but otherwise is a little light for my liking.

Seriously - anything I can do to help, please don't feel guilty. It is my pleasure, privilege and honour to assist these noble beasts any way I can. My first dragon was called "Kuleana", to remind me of this fact; it's Hawaiian and means "privilege comes with responsibility".

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
