Hello!
Thank you for veiwing my question/concerns. As some of your may know I have a girl beardie, Ollie! Its amazing how much she has grown in the last year. She will be 2 in Feb.

She does have YED, and we get it checked and all got medications and then we stopped because its very expensive and my parents arent the richest people. I feel so bad it spread just everywhere. Me writing this is putting me in tears knowing I can't do much anymore. She is my first beardie and I love her to DEATH!!! I'm not sure if I should let it just take its course, I don't seem to have many other options. As of now she is great eating and ready for brumation. Her right hand is yellow and puffy and she won't let me pet it. I don't want her to suffer. I feel like im in a hole right now. What do you guys think?

I was in this situation with my last beardy, where I could no longer afford to do anything for her.
I chose to have her put to sleep as I didn't want her to die a slow painful death, its a gut wrenching decision, but you have to think whats best for your beardy..
If its inevitable, and you know she is gonna die, you have to think whether she will be in pain or unhappy being left to do her own thing.. or do you save her from the pain and let her out on a high..

I feel for you I really do :(

Hope this helps you, and remember she wont hold it against you, you tried your best and did all you could :)

awww, poor thing :(

Your options are pretty much:

- let it take its course until it overwhelms her
- let it carry on until she is clearly in discomfort, then have her put to sleep
- try to find a rescue organisation who may be able to treat her and nurse her back to health

It's so hard when our pets get sick and finances stop us from doing everything we can for them. I hope you manage to make a decision that you can live with.

These are options I didn't even think of. I know it unfair for her to suffer and I would rather not have her die unhappy. I talked to my parents (I'm 13) and they said in a couple weeks to a month we can get her checked out again and get medication. I think I'm going to see if the medication helps and delays the spreading for maybe a couple of years or how ever long it takes. I don't expect it to go away and if it does I do know it probably will come back. So I probably will see how the medication goes and maybe it will help for a little while. But, once it gets to her insides and she starts suffering I can't do that to the poor thing so then is probably when I would put her down. How much does it cost? I live in NJ. I will give you guys and update every now and then so look out for new information!

I'm very sorry about Ollie's condition... it's so difficult to watch your best little friend suffer! Forgive my ignorance please, but may I ask what YED is? I know you've mentioned her struggling with yellow fungus before - is that the same thing? If so, although yellow fungus is an uphill battle, it's not always a death sentence. What kind of medication does Ollie need? We may be able to help you find another source that's cheaper than your current one so you can continue her treatment. You can also use silver cream every day (you can buy it here >>> http://www.beardeddragon.co/index.php?route=product/product&path=60&product_id=253) to help prevent the spread. You can even use anti-fungal creams meant for humans like Lamisil, etc. Also, do you have her on a probiotic regimen? Probiotics can be essential to preventing and treating yellow fungus, especially of she's taking any kind of antibiotic meds. Again, I'm so sorry that you're even having to think about these things. Let us know if we can do anything to help you through this :(

Yes it is yellow fungus. She always had it on that right foot. We took her to a the Vet they said she is healthy, a little chunky (hehe oops) but its nothing to worry about. I told the doc about her foot and he said most likely it is yellow fungus. We didn't really do any tests just because it is expensive but it is YED. Well, he said we will do this treatment for 3 months. I don't remember the names of her medications but one was a cream that was white in color and I put that on the affected areas twice a day. Then we had liguid medicine (grape flavored) from stokes pharmacy and I gave her 1 ml everday. Now the 3 month treatment did help. It was mostly on her foot, but a little dots on her tail, vent, and stomach. The little dots went away completely, her foot improved a lot. She also lost all toe nails but her longest one and during the treatment the ones that were missing started to grow slowly (they still are) After the 3 month treatment (we did this end of spring begining of summer) we stopped to see what would happen. for weeks it was great! Then she shed, it got worse on her foot, spread to her vent area, and stomach, its now on her right hand that is swollen and puffy and she won't let me touch. Its also on her left elbow and her left longest toe nail got like shorter and yellow so it could be there possiably. At this moment she is on no medications, creams, or supplements. That link you sent me was EXACTLY what the cream is!! That would be great if you have any information!!! :blob5:

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
