Update on Chomps (MBD)

So, Chomps is doing good mostly I think? He's finally looking a little plump! And looks like he's growing a little. He's also supporting himself a little more on all four legs, though one back leg seems a little weak, hoping it comes back as he continues improvement. He's all over his tank anyway, and tonight on the floor he kept taking off to go explore so he can definately still move around well!

However, his cricket chewed foot fell off, even after trying to take care of it well. The stump end looks clean and doesn't look swollen at all. He just got out of a betadine bath (watered way down), ate dinner, and is getting a good cage cleaning so we can try not to get an infection set in. After the bath and once the tank is clean we'll put some neosporin back on it and do that a few times daily until it looks really healed up. Also plan to continue betadine baths a few times a week if that's a good idea?

We're buying a second carpet for his tank tomorrow to switch out once a week at least and wash the other. He's pooping occassionally, not as much as most beardies I think, but he has to eat a ton before he poops, even before all this it would be a few days between, so no change there now.

Let's see, other than that, he'll be back at the vet in no more than 11 days for a few days boarding and a calcium check (and general check I'm sure with the foot issue and such). So, hoping he's gained some weight on the scales and they think he's looking really good in the vet's opinion too

Foot is looking better and better everyday and doesn't seem to even phase him at all. We let him have some time out of the tank today to run around and he was up on all four legs and just flying around like crazy. He's still all chubby looking too so looking better overall at least. We finally gave him back his basking branch since he's stronger and supporting himself on all four legs again, plus climbing on his cave and everything else he can already. Poor little guy was out of breath though after his running around, so we'll make that a daily thing and get him stronger yet I think. Another bath scheduled for tomorrow evening to keep his foot good and clean and keep him happy.

Chomps is still doing well we think He's getting quite the appitite, but we swear he's scared of crickets now...he won't chase them, won't look at them and gets really upset if they touch him at all. We keep trying a few here and there, and really need to get him some other live feed to try soon. He's eating his food from the vet like crazy and now eating some fruit and veggie mixes, and really liked his first squash the other day. We also gave him his basking branch back and he's been climbing it a little and resting a lot on it instead of on the ground now.

The other day when we were letting him out for his dinner and exploring time, I noticed he hasn't been twitching at all anymore. Hasn't been for a few weeks thankfully, so there's definately improvement there. Of course, I think the next day is when he started acting really strange and his tail and back legs were twitching/spasming funny. I was a little worried until he had one huge huge poop. And some really smelly gas...thankfully I was far enough away not to smell it, but hubby said the smell disappeared quick so it wasn't the poop. Since then he's been pooping a little more often and really perked up a lot. Poor boy was a little stopped up I guess, but he doesn't poop in baths or anything, and there are times it takes forever for him to build it up enough to come out.

Other than that, we keep thinking he's going to shed, he'll turn pale and grouchy and refuse food. Then the next day he's normal again. We're hoping for a nice shed soon since it looks like he's gotten a little bigger finally, definately his tail looks fat and the rest of him doesn't look under weight anymore
