Weight: 496 grams Length 18.5 inches
In the last few weeks, I have noticed a decline in his eating. Thanks to Rio Reptile's care sheet, I realize this is normal.
I am not sure if he will brumate this winter, or not. He has always been a pampered dragon, and waits for me each morning to put him on his basking spot. He loves to sleep late in his burrito bed..LOL!!
His diet has mostly been collard greens, alfalfa, hibiscus, silkworms, and superworms this last month. He has turned off to Dubias. Luckily, I have eleven leopard geckos that love them!!
Still very docile with absolutely no aggression. I never see him flare up with a black beard, or bob his head.
He still gets his daily sunning on the screen porch, when weather permits. Baths are every other day with good poops. All temps in his 4x2x2 viv are good with the Arcadia T5 12% and the ZooMed 50 watt basking bulb. Cool side stays around 80, and basking spot is at 105.
All is good!!! :D

Hello Hugo! Happy belated Birthday!

Look at his arms - he's so buff!

Yep, Stella has decided that Dubia's are "ewwie-gross!" as well - which just figures, because my colony is breeding like crazy now. :banghead: I remember when I couldn't keep UP with her and the amount of Dubias she'd eat in a day! Now the latest craze is Superworms. I'm going to try silkworms out with her soon, and *maybe* hornworms. I have really strong reservations about the hornworms tho - they scare the crap out of me.

I'm also ready to pull the trigger on the Arcadia 12% bulb - its time to replace Stella's! Did you have to purchase a specific fixture for yours?

Just read your post about Stella. I am so glad she is doing better. The picture with your puppy is cute!!! I just found out something with the Dubias...Hugo LOVES the white molted ones. Bigger the better!!! He has been running after them, and gobbling them down.
Yes, you do need to have a special fixture for the T-5 bulbs. I ordered my lamp and fixture Arcadia from Todd at lightourreptiles.com.

Ah yeah, I suppose - with it being a T5, it WOULD require a different fixture. :study:

Freshly molted dubias, you say? I never thought of that. I'll dig around in the roach bin and see if I can dig up any juicy ones for her! :puke:

And thank you in regards to your comment about my "puppy" - would you believe that Bentley is 8 yrs old?!? He doesn't look or act like it.

You can get the arcadia 12% in a T8 too, if you already have a T8 fixture

Are those the ones that say (on the lightyourreptiles.com site) "fits all __" fluorescent fixtures"? Like this:

I don't know, it looks like it, but then it's under the t5 heading on the website...I'd give them a call and check. I'm in the UK, so my suppliers wouldn't be any use to you.

ETA: it certainly looks like the right one, as 36"/30w is the right combination for the t8, the t5's come in 34"/39w

"A revolutionary new range of high performance T5 reptile lamps from Arcadia. Offering a significant increase in both visible light and UV output compared with T8 lamps of similar length.
D3+ Reptile T5 Lamp For Desert Species
12% UVB for the synthesis of vitamin D3 ; 30% UVA ; Produces excellent natural colours ;100% more visible light than equivalent length D3+ T8 lamp ;95% more UVB than equivalent length T8 lamp ;Typically 61µW/cm2 at 30cm (with no mesh/glass and without a reflector)" is a quote from their website.

When you call them, ask the difference between the T5 and T8. With a 24" High viv, you may want the T5.
That is what I am using, and getting great UVB readings. :D

I kind of think I'm just going to go with the T5 - especially if its working out so well for Hugo (since he and Stella have the same enclosure!) - what part of his enclosure do you have his UV fixture mounted to?

I have it mounted in the middle of the inside top. I extends from the hot side toward the cool side:

A-ha! Thanks for the pics!

This might work out really well for Stella's enclosure - we have track lighting mounted to the top right smack in the middle. I could mount the UV fixture directly behind it. *begins brainstorming*

10 months today!! :blob5:

Definitely slowing down on the bugs, but eating his greens. He now weighs 531 grams and 18.5 inches long. No signs of brumation. I did see a black beard flare while he was around the puppy, but no hissing. Perfectly understandable, because the pup is a 7 lb bouncing ball of fur. :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
