UniHeat Heat Packs

Hello,
So I was thinking about using a cat carrier for my dragon if I had to take her anywhere for a few days. I know she'd need heat so I started looking up some heat packs. I ran across these http://www.lllreptile.com/products/435-disposable-40-hour-heat-pack and thought they would be good. Has anyone ever used them? How would I use them? Would I just stick the heat pack into the carrier?

Yes, I've used them many times , esp. for shipping, They take about 1/2 hour or more to warm up, you take them out of the pack + shake them to get them activated. When it's up to the right temp. you can wrap in an old sock to keep it warmer + put it right in with your beardie. You can also use hot hands heat packs from Walmart, they take less time to heat up but they get MUCH hotter [ about 150 F ] so IF you used them you'd need to wrap them better to be sure your beardie didn't get burned. The uni-heat only gets about 110 degrees or so.

The uniheats would probably be perfect then. Do you think they'd be fine in this?

It looks soo cool but it's soo much . I'll have to get it for christmas.

I agree, those heat packs are good. That said, I haven't needed to use heat packs often during travel. I only use them by putting them under a blanket or towel in the carrier when I leave the car for a meal etc on long trips. Normal ambient temps in the car are fine for most trips.

That carrier is pretty cool but it's overkill. I've used a large shoebox and I currently have a soccer bag (duffel bag) with some fleece and a towel at the bottom with pockets to hold things like a heat pack and some cleaner wipes etc. That does the job nicely for road trips. I have a collapsable baby pen to use as a travel enclosure. I just set up an adjustable lamp stand and heat (MVB in this case) bulb overhead with a basking log and hide. Pretty simple setup but it works.

I like the carrier but if she poops in it I'd be hard to clean. I might just be better off with a simple cat carrier.

That's why I like to line the bottom with a few rag towels. Easy to clean up and if I need access to some rags while on the road, they're right in the carrier ready to go. Bottle of vinegar and bottle of F10 in the side pouch.
