That's awesome that you rescued her! She's so lucky to have you!
I will try that now Thanks

You could download the app. I use the photobucket app for my 4s and it works. The site doesn't, it's weird.

AHBD, Thanks for adding that about the bath/soak, you are, as usual, 100 % correct! :D

Lauram63110 , I agree with your entire post, the person is horrible that could let this happen. And all 11 of my beardies are exceptionally clean, they hate their poop, I'm retired and home all day. I know by listening when one has gone of they haven't used the bath. They glass dance to get my attention. I immediately clean it up and they go back to basking, very happy their is no poop in their abode.

mayuso001, I got your pm. You are doing all you can! Your little rescue is far better off with you no matter the out come! Sometimes they can be in such very poor condition that you don't think they will make it. We do all we can for physical support, feeding supplements, meds if ordered by the vet, keeping them toasty warm, and do it all with a gentler human touch and spirit than they have ever experienced. Sometimes they make it but it will be a very slow recovery since they heal so slowly.....After doing everything we can for them sometimes they don't make it, that makes us their hospice. What you are doing matters and you are wonderful for trying!

Dragonlover, I pictured 11 beardies glass dancing all at the same time saying "Let's see whose tank she cleans first!" I am 53 years old old and have had Beardies for 2.5 years. I wondered if I was unusual for having reptiles, but have been pleasantly surprised on here to find other *ahem* mature people (especially women!) keeping them.
It's always nice to find others with interests like your own. :D

Apology to the poster for the side highjack.... Lauram63110, there have been times it's multiple, but the hubs loves and cares for them too so when it's multiple poops we are both hard at it. 8 of our 11 are rescues. Theses beautiful and gentle creatures are my retirement joy! I rescue and have become a sanctuary as well. DragonHeart Rescue and Sanctuary.

mayuso001, rescue is felt as much as learned. You are wonderful!

Hi Mayuso......it's good to hear that she is taking in a little baby food ! She will receive some hydration that way as well, so add a little extra water + a few drops of Pedialye to the mixture. As far as the vet's words of doubting that she will make it, I'm sure that you are aware that in her condition that he may be correct.....but as long as you can get a little something in her it's worth a try, and the less stress she has right now the better. It's good that you kept the bath short, 10 minutes is plenty. And as long as she will take in a little nutrition, the only thing a vet can do for her is to give you additional supplements. In her condition it may be best to just offer supportive care + nutrition at home. Keep up the good work, I wish the best for you !
I think im prepared either way. right now im grateful her eye swelling seems to be less, My facebook page is Black-eyed Pyke Ayume. There are pics of Lizzy there, Im having ridiculous issues posting pics here even with photobucket. We are not crazy ppl. One of our family passtimes is pirate re enactment so please know we are happy stable ppl in real life! LOL. Everyone who reads this post please feel free to friend me there.

I have added a few dropps of pedialyte to everything ive fed her. Thanks for the support it truly means the world to me.

How is the little girl doing? I can't help but feel she knows you are taking good care of her, and she might surprise you by making it. Don't give up hope! Have you picked out a name? New beginning, new name? I think people like your co-worker needs to be strung up by her toenails!! Please update when you can.

Hello wonderful people! Lizzy was seen yesterday by my vet. She has severe MBD. The goo news is no parasites ( which is a miracle considering her filthy tank) her hind femers are so deformed that she walks with a wiggle. I renamed her Chick a Boom because of that! Her eyes are fine believe it or not. The vet was very impressed with all the outstanding advice I got from all of you. He feels its what saved her thru the weekend. Her eyes developed like that because of poor lighting and lack of calicum. I noticed she digs in the sand and licks it. I think it's because her worms were always buried in it. I plan in putting 1/2a sheet of lizard carpet in her tank and placing her food in so she can eat. What do you think? I was told she has to be hand fed and I don't mind doing that but she tried to catch a cricket in her tank she jut cant move fast enough even with me removing 2 of the crickets legs.

Hi,
That's great news for Lizzy :D Do I understand correctly you have sand in her tank. Sand and all loose substrate is very unsanitary, harbors waste, bacteria, viruses, mold, fungus and possibly worm and parasite eggs. It can cause intestinal impaction and it can not be cleaned completely. The liquid waste disperses through out the sand or loose substrate making it so it's almost like a beardie living in a cat litter box. You can poop-scoop out the solids, but not all of it, and only very little of the liquid waste. Better to use newspaper, paper towels, textured ceramic tiles, slate, textured congoleum, or non-adhesive shelf liner. These can all be either disposed of or cleaned well. None on this forum recommend sand or any loose substrate. ....beardies are from Australia where it is called desert because of low rain fall not sand...think the Outback, there is some sand of course, but trees, bush lands, brush, scrub, grasses, rocks, etc..... bearded dragons are tree climbers not sand dwellers.
I hope this helps.

I have a mix of walnut sand and calcium sand in her tank. Our other beardie has thrived In that exact mixture. Here in fla it's hard to control the humidity even with the AC. My exotic vet told me to that that after our healthy boy was no longer a juvinal. He had lizard carpet from 12 week until 1 yr. I change the tank every other month entirely and poop is scoops daily. I hope that makes you feel better. She can't climb but she basks on a long treated basking bridge I bought at PETCO. It's dishwasher safe but I decontaminate it every day. I have a kid and I'm a nurse so I'm fanatical about cleanliness. Her previous tank was filled with sand from the back yard. Filled with bugs & filth.

I renamed her Chick-a-Bomb because of the wiggle in her walk. My vet is so impressed with the input i received from all of you. Her eyes are so much better. She is actually blinking now. Because her MBD is so severe her eyes grew outward so she will always look like she has bubble eyes. She can't climb so everything is low in her tank. She drank today during her soak. She also moved away from her poop which made me so happy. For 2 says she just sat in it. Thank you all for your support. I never could have done any of this without you! Your a beautiful group. I posted my face book page. That's where her pics are plus my beautiful fat boy.

Hey there, I'm glad to hear that she is drinking some, and if she needs to be hand fed, that's fine. She will always be special needs. And what a cute name, Chick a Boom... it made me giggle ! :)

PS When I see the vet again in 4 weeks I will revisit the sand issue. Thank you so much for your feedback. Everywhere I go I see these little guys in the calcium sand. Fortunately we never had ours get inpacted. Fat boy loves to dig in it but if it has to go it will.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
