It's easy to miss. Before I got interested in beardies (like.. less than a week ago), nothing seemed off in the real version of that pic (minus the permanently sleeping one with crickets on it, of course). And they know most people have no idea that they are slowly killing them (when I first saw them in the store, I didn't know they were supposed to be somewhat plump.. I thought the scrawny anole look was normal). While I know housing them completely wrong increases their profit margins, I just can't understand it. I picked mine up from a small non-chain pet store for $40 (petco actually had theirs set at 69.99). Same approximate length (6") and therefor probably same age, no exotic breeds, but the small pet store took care of them and still sold for much less. Also, I didn't have to fill out an adoption sheet to get him (petco made me do that with firebellied toads...)
