Two Beardies

I am looking at getting a Bearded Dragon. I was wanting to get feed back on getting one or two. I have found that Bearded Dragons seem to socialize pretty good with one another. I have a 55 gallon enclosure. If I get two, I would get two females, as to not have any little ones in the future. Thoughts?

Hey, Max. Hope all is well.

While it seems like a pretty cool idea and something I'm sure we would all love to be able to do, almost anyone and everyone on this site will STRONGLY recommend that you do not, under any circumstance, house two dragons together. Bearded Dragons are solitary animals; they are "lone wolves", as it were, and will be the safest and happiest when they are by themselves. Male dragons, when housed together, will fight. Females will become territorial and one will become the dominant (for example, eating all the food, taking the best basking spot) with fighting also a major risk. Babies when housed together will nip at each other, causing loss of limbs and sometimes, even death.

In my opinion, it is always best, and more importantly safest, for the dragon's to be kept in separate vivariums.

I agree heard females being housed together but there stress will always be high. Dragons are known to be loners even in the wild. Males can't be housed together and have proved that with my own eyes. They enjoy being social with you. Females are great but heard male would be better for a first time owner. You came to the right place to do research so have at it. Glad to see research before you get one. Am a open person any questions am here for ya.

If you need a good brreder there are reptile conventions EVERYWHERE if i know where to look 8)
