Last week I noticed Teddy was getting listless, and was starting to blow bubbles. Today we saw the vet, and he confirmed a URI.
Dr. Nakamura gave me a series of Fortaz (did I spell that right?) injections, and showed us how to administer them. Then he gave us a surprise medicine- a bottle of antibiotic solution for the eyes, to drop into Teddy's nose. I see the reasoning behind it, but I'm a little concerned about adding more moisture to an already messed up nose. But somehow, the Dr. seems to know what he's doing. Dory doesn't want me to question the vet. :study:
We got a couple containers of soy yogurt for Ted (and some for meeee!), and I even sweet-talked a syringe for the yogurt from the vet. Is there anything else I can do to make him more comfortable during treatment?
For the record:
Age: about 6-7 months, 16"+ long, had him for about three months
Basking spot: 105-109* (as dictated by Teddy: he won't bask in anything warmer)
Hot side: 88-92*
Cool side: 72-75* all measured with a digital probe
There is a CHE hooked up to a rheostat to keep it about 70* at night. That probe is between the hot and cold basking rocks.
Reptisun 10.0 tube, about 8 inches to top of head, with a 100 watt halogen flood lamp right over the basking rock.
Tile and rocks, no water bowl, gorgeous marble-ish slab to bask on
Bathed mostly daily
Fed dubias twice daily and whatever collards, mustard and basil he'll nibble throughout the day. Poops daily; he perfers Dory for a watercloset, still working on the bath time "potty training".
