To and Fro - Dash's thread

I thought I'd go ahead and start up a thread for my new beardie, Dash. Dash was bred by Tom at TnD Dragons. He was hatched June 11, 2010 and is the son of Gemini and Dozer. He's a citrus pastel coloring.

Dash arrived today after the long overnight trip from Pennsylvania. He arrived and was left by the front door, unannounced, by UPS. Fortunately, Tom PM'd me here on the forum to say he had the delivery notification so I rushed out and brought him inside. He made the trip in good shape and has spent the afternoon exploring his viv.

He left me a nice poop already, which convinced me that having some natural driftwood in the viv was a bad idea as it's difficult to clean and sanitize. First lesson learned

Around 6:30 PM, he got his first bath here at home, which he seemed to tolerate but wasn't too excited about. I wasn't able to pick him up yet, as I'm too scared I'll hurt him, but he was happy to crawl onto my palm. After his bath, he chowed down on 10 crickets, which seemed to satisfy him, so I left it at that. I'm pretty sure he's eaten some greens, but I haven't caught him at it yet

Lights out will be at 9 PM and that will be his usual schedule - up at 7:00 AM and lights out at 9.

All in all, a great first day!

A comfortable week for Dash this time around. He's been eating a few less crickets than usual but still seems to be growing well. I think he's making it up with salad. He put on 20 grams this week, up to 333 and is still hovering around 19.5 inches. He's been pooping just great so I think he's clear of whatever was causing his little trouble period.

Good week this time around. I decided to supplement Dash's diet with some superworms, since he's up to 20 inches long now. Man does he love those things! I'll absolutely be keeping a few cups of those handy. I've been giving him 3 or 4 a day, on top of his usual cricket supply.

In addition to the half inch of growth he took a good jump up to 357 grams, a gain of 24 from last week.

awwww, he's getting so big! i love the picture of him looking at his reflection. he still weighs a little less than falkor, but he has certainly surpassed her length. i think falkor still has another growth spurt coming though ;-)

The weight keeps adding up, with a gain to 377 grams this week. Been busy with the holidays so no pics this week.

Not much action this week. Dash seemed a bit subdued this week and the scale reflected that, with a gain of only 3 grams to 380. He's been pooping well though, so I don't think there's anything wrong with him. He's been ignoring his crickets a lot, maybe because the vendor messed up and sent me really tiny 1 week olds instead of the 3 week old I ordered. Dash seems to be spolied on the larger crickets now

Anyway, caught this pose the other day when I came home. It just screamed for a caption:

As for the hammock, Dash still thinks he's a little 75 gram lightweight and loves to take these flying leaps off his branch onto the hammock. More often than not these days, he and the hammock end up on the floor! Cracks me up everytime, because he sits there for a few seconds staring at it disgustedly before he wanders off somewhere else.

Awesome start to the New Year. Dash has really taken to the superworms, which is good and bad. Good because they seem to be doing wonders for him, bad 'cause he's eating me out of house and home. I need to find a better bulk source of these worms

He really bulked up this week, from 380 grams up to 412 grams. Here's a couple pics from this week's snapshots...

No pics this week but Dash is still growing like a weed, putting on 20 grams for a weigh-in of 432 grams this week. He's been very active, running around the viv like crazy and leaping from his branch. He's knocked the hammock down probably 20 times

He's still loving the Superworms, but I'm going to start giving him some crickets again this week to get him eating a mix of stuff. The worms are pretty high in Phosphorous, which can block Calcium absorption, so I don't want to feed them as a sole staple.
