I'm going to Petco to pick up a 40 gallon breeder tank and I'm also going to switch to tile. But I don't know too much about tile. Anyone have tips on how to select my tile?

Go to lowes and I got a ceramic/slate tile. it is easy to clean cause it doesn't have the normal cracks and crevaces that slate has it is smooth. They will cut it for you too, so measure your tank and have them cut to fit. Heres a pic of my viv with my ceramic/slate tile.

When you buy tile for a viv, is it one big sheet of rock or several smaller pieces? What's your experience on ease of cleaning?

I bought two total tiles. They are a porcelin (mis-labeled them as ceramic before) and slate. The tiles i bought were 18x18 inches and I had them cut to fit my enclosure 17 1/2 x 17 1/2. That way I only have one crack in the center that I have to worry about cleaning out. I like having just 2 tiles cause I can easily wipe out any poo or dust ect. I wouldn't reccomend having several 2 inch tiles because of all the cracks you would constantly be having to move tile around and clean under them. I only have 2 not 20 that I have to do that to and I think it is much easier and lower maintenance.

one more thought. Try to put the cuts on the outsides and try to lay tile with the original edgs that are usually a little rounded so not to have sharp edges. If not possible sand the top edge a little with some sand paper 100 grit or higher. not too much a just a couple of passes to round edge a little

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
