We are going to switching to tile soon. When we looked at the 12 x 12in. tiles we noticed they were actually 11.75 x 11.75in. This will now be leaving us with a 1/4in. gap along one side of our 50gal tank, and a 1/2in. gap along one side of our 65gal tank. We arent going to be grouting becuase we want to be able to remove the tiles to be cleaned, so we were told we could make a wedge to keep the tiles nice and night agaisnt one another.

Any ideas on what we can use for a wedge?

If we baught the tiles from Lowes, do you know if we can bring them into Osh or Home Depot to be cut, or do you have to buy the tiles from them in order to be cut by them? We dont have a tile cutter and the one at Lowes is broke at the moment.

Here is a basic image of where the gap is. The bigger tank is our females, the smaller one, our new babie's tank.

All I can tell you is I bought tiles from Home Depot because they said they could cut 1 tile for me. Took it back to get it cut and was informed they hadn't cut tile in 3 years and I was told wrong.

For the gap, maybe cut a strip of wood and seal it really well.

split the gap up between each tile and put some grout in between.

TRUST ME !!! you want the tiles grouted so you can just wipe over them, rather then taking them out each day because your cheeky little beardie smeared poop in all the cracks. mmmmmmmm..... :puke:

We found the right size piece of wood to use as a wedge at OSH. We dont want to grount it just yet becuase we were actually talking about making our own tanks as soon as we can, and we dont want to make this perminent becuase we would eventually want to sell these old tanks.

Okay so the depth should be at least 2ft correct? We wanted to start making plans for a double-decker type of setup. Our little male whos 3 months old right now is a german giant and is going to get pretty big, so we want to give him tons of room as an adult. Any links to a DIY tank (double-decker) would be wonderful!

i would go two 4x2x2 crossfire designs, stacked. if you want, think about 3 foot deep... it adds a whole new demension, and its only slightely more room if you think about it.

Yeah that sounds pretty good! We might want to go a little bit bigger in the length as well. I dono, we are planning it out. We ended up using duck-brand shelf liner for the babies tank, and tile for our females. It looks very nice. Im gonna get pics up soon.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
