The links up at the top, above the banner on the website, which are "MyHermitCrab.com" , "KittyTopics.com" and "GeckoTopics.com" seem to be no longer hosting websites. Are they serving a purpose? lol not to be a nitpick I just felt like clicking through there and was brought to nothing haha.

Those links are very old and Alex (the site owner) hasn't gotten around to removing them from the banner.

I once tried to make those sites similar to this one, but specialized in other areas. They didn't really go anywhere, so I removed the sites, and just parked the domains. Actually, those need to be pulled soon, since even Google is stopping their Domain parking service, anyway.
