They are smarter than we think

Ya know everyday Judah never ceases to amaze me with how smart he really is. Just when i think I have seen it all or have have figured out just exactly the extent of his smartness, he exceeds that. So recently he has this new thing about his vitamins, he has always loved them and has been up to scraffing them down and almost attacking his dish when I would put them on there once a week. But lately he has been in protest of his salad unless I put a dash of what he thinks is just "the flavored goodness." So I put him in front of his salads each day and he just sits there and looks at it, and then looks at me, then looks back at the salad, then looks at me. And then I give up and say ok I know! I then have to put a little tiny bit of calcium or some minerals and then, and only then, will he begin to eat them. He will then to proceed to pick out all of the pieces that have the white dusting. little bogger. Thankfully he only dose this with his first dose of morning salads and not all day long, because I have been so affraid that he is going to get too much vitamins! So i switched to no D3 calcium just so he coudl be apeased with his flavor additive. And he will only do this with the salad, he will eat other veggies and fruit all day long, but when it comes to the salads it must have vits, it is like his Salt and Pepper I guess. he makes me smile

Cute...made me laugh......It doesn't surprise me though. They are really smart and super picky eaters (at least mine is). Mine won't eat crickets unless they are dusted ?????? If he eats one and it's not dusted, he'll look up at me and give me dirty looks and ignore the rest of the crickets. He also prefers to eat crickets in the morning and PWs in the evening ??? They have us wrapped around their little fingers :whip:

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. :D

Take care and best wishes to you and your dragon :D

Aww how cute! Mine are healthy eaters, they do not like wax worms. They each ate one and looked at me like "what was that mom? it was gross!" But your story certainly made me laugh, very cute!

That's funny! ^.^ (on all of it) I didn't realize how picky of an eater they really could be. Thanatos won't eat spaghetti squash or any fruit. but he'll inhale anything green. :)
And he really really really likes superworms.

Oh you lucky devils.
Dex (or Hussy) has been waging a war on veggies since we got her.
She has to be tricked and bribed into eating them.

Judah has been shedding and very picky as well as itchy. I think this is what was up with the not eating of the salad and wanting vits. So I was tring to get him to eat, I had a piece in my hand trying to coax him to eat. When he doesnt want to eat something i stick in his face, he shakes his head, like NO! NO! GET THAT OUTTA MY FACE MOM! Anyways he did this but i insisted a few times tring to get him to eat it, he shook his head and then slaped his frount paw on the ground several times in protest "STOP IT". POOR GUY! I laughed so hard! It was the funniest thing I ever saw. I said ok well how about a scratch "behind the ears" (he was shedding there) he put his head down and leaned into it and then his back leg went out and he started twitching it, like a dog would when hes getting a good scatch behind the ear. :laughhard: He is eatting normally now with out protest, since most of the shed is over. These guys can be so freaking hillarious! Too funny

Mine won't eat worms when I'm looking. It's weird. Crickets and roaches, no problem. On Sunday, I put a hornworm in his cage and waited...and waited for almost 10 minutes. I turned around to walk away and heard a sound back in his viv. When I turned back, there was a hornworm butt sticking out of his mouth. sneaky! It was like I caught him with his hand in the cookie jar or something. He stopped chewing, mouth open, hornworm hanging out and looked at me for a few seconds before he finally finished chewing and swallowing it. Then a cricket walked by and he licked it like, "what? I'm gonna eat those too." When I go to work, I usually leave a few worms in his viv because I know he will eat them while I'm gone.

:blob5: The other day, Zing (laying on me right now) refused to eat. Concerned, I went out of the room to get veggies. I came back in and all 20 [adult!!!] crix in his cage were gone with only a single cricket antennae hanging out of his mouth. I gave him more obviously. Too funny, right? Well today (this is the reason i'm trying to warm him up on me right now) he pooped in an inconvenient crevace (as usual) in his log. I quickly removed the poo and soaked it in HOT water for like 2 hours. Well, the dear Zinger wanted his log. So he went to the cold side if his viv and threw a huge fit. He FLUNG himself behind his rock and curled up. Brat. So I was gonna let him cool off (get it?) for a while. I came back in and he was FREEZING!!!!! Poor baby! *strokes Zinger* So I picked him up to comfort him and got on good ol' BD.org. :blob5:

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
