well as it turns out my baby boy is not somewhere betwee 4-6 months he is atually 3-4 months thouh i do ish i knew the exact age. i have him on 15 crickets 15 mealworms and 15 wax worms he gets different foods evryday. i live in san diego california and im looking to buy flowers for him any1 know where i can get them adn what 1s i should get if you would like to see a pic to just let me know hes definily a lil lady killer hes jut to to to cute lol i also have some vids on him as well but sill no name[/color]

well i finally named him he is now 4 months old, i decided to name him kouga and for any anime fans its a name from the anime inuyasha (the wolf demon who i think is really hot lol). whats nice about him is that i only have to feed him 2-3 times a week. i give him 15-20 crickets and which ever he doesnt eat i keep them in there so he can eat as he gets hungry. he also has some flowers in 1 of the 2 food dishes he has which also holds 5 wax worms and 15 giant mealworms. i also started to add carrots roman lettece and some green grapes sadly he hasnt eaten any greens yet . i just wish hed grow some so i can start having him on a leash but even a small is to big for him. every 2 days ill check and take any cricket or worm that is dead as well as the flowers. as for the greens i keep them in for 3-4 days by keeping them moist everyday but he still doesnt eat his greens any

It would probably be better, if you're not staying on track with the original OP, to start your own thread. I would highly recommend that. its been suggested by many that mealworms are not good for beardies especially small beardies.... i recomend u stop cuz it causes inpaction in bearded dragons

Mealworms are for geckos, not beardies of any size; crickets, roaches, silkworms, hornworms, phoenix worms & butterworms are beardie food. Ditch the mealworms, as said before they can cause compaction & even death.

also its best to take out any crickets every night as they can bite ur dragon. usually at this age their diet mainly consists of insects. also u need to give him a calcium supplement atleast once a day and multivit (i do this twice a week)

I was first scared away from mealworms when I found undigested remains of the shell in her feces. Yikes!

Hi,

I feed my beautiful and wondrous Beardies a variety of insects, greens and veggies. Beardies have been known to turn their noses up at a particular feeder. Offer greens and veggies thru-out the day. Don't offer Kale often, or banana's either. They both are high in oxcylates. This means that they bind with calcium, making it harder for the Beardie's body to absorb it.

I use Dubia Roaches, Superworms, Butters, Madagascar Hissers, Hornworms (great for hydration).

I just received my first colony of Discoid Roaches. I thought Dubias were big and a great source of protein. Discoid Roaches are even bigger. WOW! Now, THAT'S PROTEIN ! I will watch to see how fast they breed.

Butterworms are loaded with calcium. Don't feed alot of them at once. You can over dose your BD on calcium. I feed 3-4 a week. Don't dust Butters. I alternate. If I feed Butters, I don't dust with Calcium powder. If I don't feed any Butterworms, I will dust my roaches and supers. I dust my other feeders with vitamin powder (Herptivite by Rep-Cal) mixed in with the calcium powder (WITH D3).

Horns grow EXTREMELY fast. Try 1 cup first. If you keep them in a cool place (NOT the fridge), they will grow slower. However, either way, they WILL grow. Expect your Beardie to poop after they have digested their hornworms. lol

I buy medium superworms. I can always count on a few freshly molted ones. That is, until they finish growing. Then, I find ones that are morphing into the beetle. Nature is always soooo cool to watch.

Madagascars breed slowly. You MUST keep a SECURE LID on them. If there IS a way to escape, they WILL find it. lol I love to watch them respond to their food. Their hissing sounds sooo awesome! lol

My Dubia's are breeding well. I wish I had some more adult males and females. I have over 200 baby Dubia's.

Crickets (Crix) are known to carry parasites. This does not mean that every cricket fed, will pass parasites on to your dragon. There are known cases of Beardie slaves who have fed crickets to their dragons, & incurred vet bills due to high parasite loads. They get their Beardies well, feed crix again, find a high parasite load AGAIN, get them treated/cured, feed them crix, & the whole cycle begins again. They found that discontinuing the crix resulted in no more parasite problems & bills.

I believe that, in part at least, it matters where you obtain the crix from.

My Beardies decided they no longer were interested in Crix. My sweet girl LOVES her Supers. My sweet boy prefers Roaches. lol

Feeding a variety is a good idea, because it keeps your Beardies on their toes! rofl
