The Terrible Trio - Herk-A-Birthday!!

Since I am finding it more and more difficult to keep updating 4-5 threads, I have decided to start a new one that captures the antics and pics of ALL of my dragons...Nero, Dude, Sweetie-Boo, Calliope and Hercules.

From now on I will be updating this thread... and every day is an adventure here in Beardie-Land

I hope that everyone will continue to follow the lives of my babies.

Waves from the Beardie Bunch

Robin

EDIT ** For whatever reason Photobucket is not transfering my pictures :banghead: (and I have some good ones, too :angry5: ) I will try again in the morning.

That pic of his man-boobs is great! He really is huge! Congrats on the job too! And for the record, the only beardie food I've tasted is the salads!!!!

Robin I have found that with picky eater they will usually eat the beardie bites so I hope you have the same luck as I have with them. My beardies all love them so much that I have to order the 5lb bags. Even on days when they don't wanna eat I can usually get them to take a few of the green bites if I hand feed them.

Funny thing is the cats like them too. I had sat a dish of them out on the table and forgotten to add the water when I went to let the dog out came back and the cats were eating them. Ah! Maybe that's what I could do with all the extra red and gold ones.

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to chack in and say hi

I started my new job this week and let me just say that I never really understood how busy an emergency room REALLY is  From a patient standpoint you wait and you wait and you wait and you think it's because it must be lunch or break time and no one wants to come in and treat you. Definitely NOT the case.

From the admitting side..... jeez so many people come through the ER. I had no flippin' idea. But it's exciting work and interesting too. I did have a nurse tell me thought that you can't get too wrapped up in emotions when it comes to some of the people that come through. But I'm sorry... I'm human and I genuinely feel for the people and their families that seriously need help. If it's a flaw, then I'm good with that

Not much going on with the beardies. The weather has been rainy and crappy so they are all sluggish. I think Nero has reached that stage in his adult life that he only needs proteins every two weeks or so. But he does eat his salads and isn't losing any weight so I'm good with that. They are all in some sort of shedding stage.. Calliope's entire head needs to shed.. it's bothering her so much that she doesn't even open her eyes. Nero's underside so he scoots on his belly everywhere trying to break it loose. And Herk has a little patch on the top of his head that I have dubbed "the toupe'". But everyone is happy and healthy and that makes me breathe easier considering...

Hubby is working 16 hour days in the oil fields. In less than 3 months he is already running his own crew. not surprising (to me anyway)... He works hard and it's easy to notice his accomplishments (i'm not proud or anything  )

Well gotta go get ready for work... it's Friday and it's raining... i'm sure things will be interesting this evening

Missin' my online beardie family

ER work is crazy woman! Good luck with the new job hope you find a comfortable spot to be...the hardest part about nursing or any work in the medical field of any kind for me was being able to disengage some of those emotions...I couldn't do it.
Failed at my dream. :(

Have a great night at work hope your weather gets better soon. :)

Hi Robin! Glad to hear all your kiddos are doing fine.

So, you like your new job, huh?! I can only imagine how hectic it is in the ER. Seems like I am there once a year with my poor clumsy son.
I too would have a hard time with the emotional part of the job. That is not a flaw on your part, but a wonderful trait, that I wish more humans had these days.
That's great that Tony is doing well at his job. Good for him!

We miss you around here... not that I am here too much either, but you are missed.

Dang!... I wish I had more time to hang around here :( It's taking me forever to get caught up on everyone else :banghead:

I have a few new pics of the babies:

Miss Calliope has been working on a shed for what seems like forever... the shed around her eyes is creepy
P1010004-2.jpg

Her body looks like she has chicken skin (goosebumps for those unfamiliar with my term  )
P1010002-3.jpg

She sits with her mouth open like this alot. Is it possible for her to have MBD???
P1010001-4.jpg

She closes it if you touch her, but I can't imagine why she would have MBD if that is what it is :(
"Enough already, Mom!"
P1010005-2.jpg

I can't leave out the boys:
Hercules has decided to be hormonal. Black beard and all
P1010008.jpg

He even performed his very first head-bob/stomp combo this morning
I think he has terminal stink-eye... he ALWAYS looks hacked off
P1010007-2.jpg

And Nero, who always cooperates for the camera
P1010009.jpg

Handsome boy

Enjoy!

Wow, I cannot believe that is the same little Herky you first showed us! How old is he now? Nero is handsome as always! As for Calliope's mouth, Lilly does that as well. I have been told it's possible it's slight MVB (her UVB light was too far and was going through a screen) but Vicky told me as long as she CAN close it I shouldn't worry too much. Lilly also closes it if I touch her chin and usually keeps it closed when she's out of the tank.

My Kinno does that aswell. He can close his mouth all the way but he prefers to leave it slightly open. I cant remember who it was either Vicky or Diane who said he might of grown to fast (2 inches in one month)and had a absorbsion problem so i switched him to liquid calcium just to be on the safe side. My hubby says he looks weeetaaadid. I think hes a sweetie lol

Hormones are flying here too. Kinno lost weight(50g) because he was to hormonal to even eat....

I think your whole clan is so pretty. I understand the no time for BD.org im having the same problem myself life is sooo busy lately.

You can believe it Sara. That is definitely the same guy that was so tiny when I got him :D The base of his tail is currently shedding... I measured it the other day... almost 2 inches across  And if he's shedding there that means he's growing there.. Geez! He will be a year old on the 28th of this month. He's the last of the "babies". Even tiny Calliope is older than he is.

LOL Christy! I always think that too when I see her like that

Thanks for the "open mouth" input. When I think about it, Calliope did brumate at 8 months (grew very little) and then laid a clutch of infertiles at 10 months. As much as I hate to admit it, I probably was not able to get enough calcium into her as she probably should have had :( Bad mommy! But she does close it and she is not in any distress so if everyone thinks she is fine then I will just keep an eye on it, but try not to worry too much

:blob5: :blob8: For the first time since we moved here (3 months) the sun was out AND there was no wind :blob5: :blob8: And the only thing flying around were the Dogwood fuzzies :D

So I did what all good beardie slaves do.... harnessed 'em up and took 'em outside!
Of course I had to take them one at a time.. (i'm not skilled enough to handle all of them at once like Christy does  )

Of course Nero was in heaven! Black, black, black soaking up all of those natural B's :D Of course he spent all of his time watching the sky (I kept telling him that the flying things were the fuzzies  ) And of course the tops of the trees were moving from the small breeze we had, but all in all a good half an hour outside before he started getting restless. When I put him back in his viv he was the brightest yellow I have seen from him in a long time :D

Hercules on the other hand... all I can say is WHAT THE HECK DO YOU DO WHEN YOU HAVE A DRAGON THAT IS TOO BIG FOR A KITTEN HARNESS ??
i did manage to get it on him:
Do you think he likes it???
P1010001-4-1.jpg

I wasn't sure how he would do.. he has never been outside in the sunlight in his life. He only lasted 15 minutes before he started to go schizo

Miss Calliope didn't get to go :( The dogs scared her while I was trying to get her harness on and she puffed up, flared and hissed. I'm not messing with that business

Well gotta go get ready for work... the sick people of Minot await

Hi Robin! Great pics of all the beardies, that last pic of Calliope's smile is adorable. Of course the boys are handsome as ever! Glad that you were able to get the kids out for some sun, mine do the same thing...They soak up the sun and then get super bright afterwards! I have a funny story about last weekend and taking my crew out, here's the link if you want to laugh viewtopic.php?f=49&t=115907&start=1065

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
