The life of Havoc the Beardie.

Where to start? I guess I will start by saying Hello to the forum members and introduce my little buddy "Havoc". My wife and I picked him up on Halloween night. At the time he was 8 weeks old. He is a Red Phase and an awesome little guy.
I have been reading this forum for awhile now and have yet to have the time to make a thread about our little eating machine. So tonight I had some time and figured why not.
Be warned, we take a lot of pics of him and I am going to backpost the pics we have taken of him so far all into this one thread.

Oct 31.
Here are a few pics of him and his enclosure. The enclosure a work in progress, but all his needs are met with the way it is now.

Nov 1.
We have gotten it narrowed down to 3 names now (Razor, Havoc or Nefarian). The new little guy will have a name by the end of the day.

I love the coloring on him and and very happy I ordered the Red Phase as opposed to a Translucent or leatherback. He will be going in a custom enclosure like I setup for my Ball Python once he gets bigger.
We went with grey Astro-Turf as his substrate.
My vote is for Havoc and it is looking like that is the one we will be going with. We do have one other name in mind as well, "Blaze". We will try and settle on one tonight so the poor little guy won't have to be called "Hey You" anymore.

Nov 13.
Havoc usually heads over to his plant where he sleeps at around 8:00-8:30pm and then gets up around 9:00-9:30am. Last night though he stayed up until 10:30 or so, reason being he had his first shed since we have had him, he started with his head and then kept going all the way to his tail before he headed off to bed. So he no longer has the big "M" for male written on his belly in marker. I imagine he will finish getting it off his tail later this morning, if he ever decided to get up that is.

Nov 13.
Here are some pics of him now that his has finished shedding all but his tail, he is still working on that. He will be getting a bath tomorrow morning after I get home from work to help with getting the rest off his tail.

His color is much brighter now.
And his temp is only 105 degrees because he was just out of his enclosure for half an hour or so, so the light was off, the temp rises quickly back to 110 degrees once the light is back on.

Nov 15.
Here are a couple pics and a vid of Havoc basking in his hot spot and opening his mouth to thermoregulate. He is loving the temp of the new Exoterra Sun Glo 60W bulb we put in today, the temp on this one is much better the the regular 60W clear bulb we were using. So we gave him a choice of being between 10"-6" from the light on is basking log that way his has a choice of exactly how hot he wants it.

We though about getting an adult too, but decided we wanted a baby so we could raise him and he will age at the same time our baby Gargoyle and Crested Geckos do. We can also handle him from baby on up, so he will be very used to us and even more social. (Hopefully! ).

And just because we just took these I will post them.

I am reading all the time about them to make sure I give him the best home possible and I did lots of research beforehand too so I knew what we were getting into. And yes, he is growing very fast, we sure notice it. Then again it's no surprise, he is a little eating machine.

Another little picture update of Havoc.

His color is getting better by the day too, especially now that he shed. He is spoiled and will be getting a 6' custom built enclosure once he gets a little bigger too. He'll have a pimpin home like my BP Jaxx

Here are some new pics taken the other day.

He is doing great. Very friendly and curious. He is eating salad and around 25 crickets a day now. He is an eating machine.
His rear left leg is a different color because it is always the first thing to shed.
And with that, it started to shed today, so in a couple days he will shed the rest of his body. He is growing so fast he is shedding every couple weeks.

Dec 7.
Some new pics of Havoc.
His enclosure has gone through some changes this week. We added a Hammock, A Snack Shack, new rocks and a new plant.

Dec 10.
I took everything out of Havoc's enclosure today to clean it all, and I shook out a bunch of crickets that were hiding in his log, plant and snack shack, so we put him back in to do a clean up of them while I cleaned all his decorations. Here is a vid of him going off on the snackables.

You can see he still has an antenna from one of the crickets he just ate stuck in his teeth.

Dec 11.
He has almost doubled in size since we got him on Oct 31. He is eating a bowl of Bok Choy/grapes and 25-30 gutloaded, calcium and vitamin B3 coated crickets everyday..

I will keep the thread updated from here on out as well. He has turned out to be our favorite Reptile that I have. He has such personality, and is very active and friendly.

As usual Havoc looks great! He's such a big guy, he's really large for a male.. My males are not that wide and full, but they eat like horses. Havoc is so nice and full, I adore his handsome face! Can't wait to see more pictures.

Thanks. It's funny, when people come over or I meet them and they say they have a Beardie too and in most cases are older then Havoc, they think their guy is big and they'll ask to see Havoc and they will marvel at how much bigger he is compared to theirs. He eats a lot, but he is always out running around too, staying in shape. I think climbing up and down the stairs to see the fish tanks is what makes him look so beefy. . He will be getting wirghted and measured again on the weekend when I take him out of his enclosure for spring cleaning. I will post back his stats. He is by no means overweight, but very large, like you said.

LOL i love when they look @ you with that tilted head one-eyed glare. They look at you like "really??? seriously? Im bathing here..." lol
Looking at our guppy tank is one of Miss' favorite past times. She loves the fish when we take a drive up to the pet store too. We always spen about 10 mins by the tanks talking about the fish. great pics again. Cant wait for the weigh in post! He is big, but you can see how healthy he his. I love them like that. The muscles & power in their legs amazes me.

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. Just after I made my last post, he decided he was going to try his hand at another stint of brumation. He has been sleeping in his house for the last few weeks now. This is actually good because I have been travelling and very busy with work during the last few weeks so I didn't have very much time to spend with him, so my wife has been looking after his baths for me.

He seems to be waking up a little more now too, he was out and about the last couple days for several hours, even had some salad before going back into his bedroom for the remainder of the day to snooze.

Havoc has been waking up a little more everyday lately and instead of hiding in his house to sleep, he has been finding some strange positions to sleep in instead. In the last set of pics I had moved his house because he was propped up like that behind it and we needed to get some pics, lol.

He usually doesn't sleep anywhere but inside his new bedroom since I bought it for him, but like I said he had been brumating and is only now starting to wake up. It seems like he wants to at least be out in the open where we can see him and he can see us but the positions he is choosing to sleep in are hilarious.
Today he woke up and had some salad on his own and then begged to come out, so I think within the next couple days he will be fully back to his good old self. I yelled at him last week and said he needed to wake the hell up and get back to normal because we have missed him all winter long or I was going to put him for sale on Kijiji.(like craigslist). I think that may have worked because he has been putting forth an effort ever since then to wake up. Nobody tell him it was an empty threat, lol (I would never get rid of him.)
