The life of Havoc the Beardie.

Where to start? I guess I will start by saying Hello to the forum members and introduce my little buddy "Havoc". My wife and I picked him up on Halloween night. At the time he was 8 weeks old. He is a Red Phase and an awesome little guy.
I have been reading this forum for awhile now and have yet to have the time to make a thread about our little eating machine. So tonight I had some time and figured why not.
Be warned, we take a lot of pics of him and I am going to backpost the pics we have taken of him so far all into this one thread.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oct 31.
Here are a few pics of him and his enclosure. The enclosure a work in progress, but all his needs are met with the way it is now.

We have gotten it narrowed down to 3 names now (Razor, Havoc or Nefarian). The new little guy will have a name by the end of the day.

I love the coloring on him and and very happy I ordered the Red Phase as opposed to a Translucent or leatherback. He will be going in a custom enclosure like I setup for my Ball Python once he gets bigger.
We went with grey Astro-Turf as his substrate.
My vote is for Havoc and it is looking like that is the one we will be going with. We do have one other name in mind as well, "Blaze". We will try and settle on one tonight so the poor little guy won't have to be called "Hey You" anymore.

Havoc usually heads over to his plant where he sleeps at around 8:00-8:30pm and then gets up around 9:00-9:30am. Last night though he stayed up until 10:30 or so, reason being he had his first shed since we have had him, he started with his head and then kept going all the way to his tail before he headed off to bed. So he no longer has the big "M" for male written on his belly in marker. I imagine he will finish getting it off his tail later this morning, if he ever decided to get up that is.

Nov 13.
Here are some pics of him now that his has finished shedding all but his tail, he is still working on that. He will be getting a bath tomorrow morning after I get home from work to help with getting the rest off his tail.

His color is much brighter now.
And his temp is only 105 degrees because he was just out of his enclosure for half an hour or so, so the light was off, the temp rises quickly back to 110 degrees once the light is back on.

Nov 15.
Here are a couple pics and a vid of Havoc basking in his hot spot and opening his mouth to thermoregulate. He is loving the temp of the new Exoterra Sun Glo 60W bulb we put in today, the temp on this one is much better the the regular 60W clear bulb we were using. So we gave him a choice of being between 10"-6" from the light on is basking log that way his has a choice of exactly how hot he wants it.

We though about getting an adult too, but decided we wanted a baby so we could raise him and he will age at the same time our baby Gargoyle and Crested Geckos do. We can also handle him from baby on up, so he will be very used to us and even more social. (Hopefully! :)).

And just because we just took these I will post them.

100_0205.jpg

100_0204.jpg

I am reading all the time about them to make sure I give him the best home possible and I did lots of research beforehand too so I knew what we were getting into. And yes, he is growing very fast, we sure notice it. Then again it's no surprise, he is a little eating machine.

His color is getting better by the day too, especially now that he shed. He is spoiled and will be getting a 6' custom built enclosure once he gets a little bigger too. He'll have a pimpin home like my BP Jaxx

He is doing great. Very friendly and curious. He is eating salad and around 25 crickets a day now. He is an eating machine.
His rear left leg is a different color because it is always the first thing to shed.
And with that, it started to shed today, so in a couple days he will shed the rest of his body. He is growing so fast he is shedding every couple weeks.

Some new pics of Havoc.
His enclosure has gone through some changes this week. We added a Hammock, A Snack Shack, new rocks and a new plant.

This was his old setup.

I took everything out of Havoc's enclosure today to clean it all, and I shook out a bunch of crickets that were hiding in his log, plant and snack shack, so we put him back in to do a clean up of them while I cleaned all his decorations. Here is a vid of him going off on the snackables.

I will keep the thread updated from here on out as well. He has turned out to be our favorite Reptile that I have. He has such personality, and is very active and friendly.

We got him this hammock a couple weeks ago and he has been either sleeping in his plant or under his log. This is the first morning I see he slept in the hammock. Glad he decided to use it. Must be much more comfortable then the floor. :)

And here are a couple pics once he decided to make his way to his basking spot.

My two loves were unsure about the hammocks at first, but once they discovered them, it became their favorite place to be. If they're not basking then they're on their hammocks!

I miss the crazy sleeping positions they get in when they're babies!!! I use to find Mem in all sorts of crazy positions, use to think something was seriously wrong with him because I just knew it could not possibly be comfortable! Now he always moves to his hammock to turn in, as a baby, where he was when the lights went out is where he stayed!

Very cute pictures, you can sure see him growing going through them all! I look back through pictures and videos of Mem all the time. One of these days I'm going to get them all developed and put them in a photo album!

I know what you mean about them sleeping in odd positions, this guy will sleep upside down in his plant sometimes and I have actually seen him fall out of the plant in the middle of the night too. Shakes himself off and just goes back to sleep right there where he landed. :)
It's hard to believe he has grown as fast as he has. You can almost sit and watch him grow. :laughhard: We take lots of pics of him too, he is a camera ham.

My wife had a sore back today so she decided to lay down on top of her elctric heating pad on the daybed. Havoc was watching her intently from his enclosure, so she decided to take him out and see if he wanted to cuddle with her. She placed a pillow case on top of the heating pad so it wouldn't be too hot for him then layed her blanket on top of him too. He satyed there for several hours with her.

I loved reading and looking at all your pics of Havoc! I have a little six month old who looks a lot like yours. They are precious little creatures! I love to take tons of pics, too! Some of yours are absolutely wonderful.......like the one of his eye through the plant! Loved it! And don't you love how they stretch their little legs out to sleep? My little sweetheart's name is Matthew Quigley aka Roy Cobb....Roy, for short.hope to see more of Havoc!

Thanks for the comments, glad you got to enjoy the pics and vids of our little eating machine. Is yours a Red Phase as well? Yes, I love the way you catch them laying sometimes, they seem so comfortable. This little guy has so much personality compared to my Geckos and Snake. He is definetely our favorite reptile now.

Not sure what Roy is.......but he's an eating machine, too! Must be growing like crazy! I'll put some pics on of him as soon as I figure out how!

thank you for sharing all the vids and pics of Havoc. He is such a handsome little guy. I love his color. Havoc seems to have quite a personality :) as for taking lots of pics. I am the same way with me and my husband's 2 beardies.

I am glad you enjoyed them, and thanks for the compliments. I love takings pics and sharing them. You are right he does have a great personality. I can't wait for him to get bigger, right now when we let him roam around he is hard to keep track off as he is very very fast and very inquisitive and needs to check everything out. :) I also think he is under the assumption that he is part bird as he tries to jump from very long distances. :)
