I thought I'd make an actual post dedicated to my precious little guy! I have tons of pics (just from today!) that I hope to upload by tomorrow.
Gah! I want to hold him so bad, but I must let him adjust. :roll:

Has anyone else had this problem?

Hey guys' so two things are worrying me and I hope you can help me out.

1. Sheldon is 5 months old and only nine inches. Is he too small?

2. Lately he has been "napping" during the day and I am getting worried. At random times during the day he has been curling up like a dog under the blanket in his cage and falling asleep. The longest these naps last is about three hours maximum. Sometimes I wake him up because I am worried but others I let him sleep. What should I do? His light isn't warm enough so I'm getting a warmer one tomorrow. Is that the reason?

Hi, I believe I can answer your questions.

Yeah, that is small. How much are you feeding him? How is his appetite?

Yes, it could be because his light is too cold. It could also be winter slowdown. He's only six months old, so you don't have to worry about brumation, but beardies are sleepier in the winter. How old is your UVB? That could make a beardie sleepier. Is he clean from parasites?

Thank you so much for the help, it turns out that the uvb light was 6months 1week old so I got him a new one. I also changed his bulb so the basking log stays at 105. Before it was at about 98. He immediately stopped doing that weird nap thing.
He eats maybe 40 small crickets (smaller than the space between his eyes) every day. He hasn't been eating his greens lately so I tried Escarole, Kale, and Butternut squash. HE LOVES IT!

I'm hoping that since I fixed those two problems that he will continue growing. Now I'm probably just freaking out but I swear he grew a half an inch in these two days that the lights and food have been fixed.

Oh and about the parasites, fecal came back clean of everything. His bowel movements are exactly like a healthy beardie's should be. Not going to go into detail :shock: , but not runny and once every day constantly.

Hey guys! So I finally got the OK from my mom to breed dubia roaches! Right now I'm collecting supplies for them before I actually order the roaches.
I can't wait! Crickets just don't cut it, they aren't as healthy as I think Sheldon needs.
Also, my dad agreed to help me turn the chest in my room into a bear die cage! (Yay!)

Finally got his UVB bulb yesterday!!!

Now for a new question, what is the best number of adult dubias to start out with? Could I just get 500 babies?
