The Dresden Files - 12/9 Ember is now at peace

I couldn't help myself with the title of this thread. It makes me smile! The Dresden Files are some of my favorite fantasy books about a magician/warlock detective in Chicago. I love them and the name, so my new beardie baby is now Dresden. He will soon have a brother whom I am adopting this weekend from a family not far from me. They are moving out of state and want him to have a good home. They tried to sell him on CL but had no takers, or if they did they didn't like who was inquiring because they want him to have a good home. They are giving me him, plus his whole 55 gallon tank and stand for super cheap.
Dresden was 10 inches and 47 grams as of 8/3/2011 and was hatched the week of May 9th, 2011 which makes him 13 weeks old.

Here is Dresden as of this morning

This is the soon-to-be-brother. I need to find him a name. How can you name a beardie before you meet him or her?

It's over an hour later, Maggie and I'm not asleep yet- instead, I'm browsing the forums on my phone!! I cant stop thinking about poor Ember! She fought so hard!
You are such a fab Beardie mummy-you gave her so much love! Even at the end, you loved and cared so much to let her be at peace :( it would have been easy to be selfish and put her through more stress but you knew it was time to let her go. That says a lot about you and what an amazing person you are!

I do hope Kazi isn't leading Ember into too much mischief!! LOL!

Looking does help healing! Empty vivs are heartbreaking! You have plenty of room in your heart for another very lucky baby! :)

HUGS!!

I thought yesterday couldn't get any worse, however I was wrong.

While I was at work yesterday afternoon (yes I went to work) I needed to move my car in our very small parking lot. It's really more like a glorified driveway with awkward slanted parking spots. I was really not paying attention, and ended up backing my car into the fence. I need a new bumper, some body work for damage under the bumper since I hit it good, and possibly a new tail light. After everything with school and work last week, then the stress of saying goodbye to Ember, and my boss was yelling (he claims speaking loudly - gah!) for me to move my car, I broke down into sobs. I just lost it. I was a girl for approximately 30 minutes, or maybe an hour. I called my mom, picked her up at work, and she and I went shopping. I got a new beanie which is adorable! It did make me feel better. Sometimes it's the simple things that help.

I did make a point to spend time with Dresden and Nezzie tonight. I moved their light schedules around so they come on an hour late and will stay on an hour later which is going to be great for me. Dresden is becoming such a big boy! He is 384 grams and 16 7/8 inches. He turns 7 months tomorrow :)

I'll post pictures tomorrow when I have some more time. Both dragons are looking amazing :)

Hi Maggie,

I'm new to the forum and just read this post. I am so sorry for your loss. Ember was a pretty beardie, and it must be so difficult for you now that she has crossed over the rainbow bridge.

Isn't it funny how when you're already down life just seems to throw you another curveball? I found out that Custard has coccidia and pinworms from his vet right before my finals week and also had some girl hit my car in the parking lot while I was getting him some crickets (which he has no appetite for thanks to his meds). Then I was so busy thinking about all of that, that I scraped the side of my car against a bush trying to avoid some pedestrians on the pothole ridden street to my boyfriend's house. Luckily, I'm asking for some body work on my car this Christmas.

They should have a DWS excuse: Driving While Stressed  .

Aren't moms great? I wish mine lived closer to me so that we could do stuff like that all of the time. It's great that you got to pamper yourself :) I got a haircut today, myself.

I changed Custard's hour schedule to match my own a little more too. It really is nice to spend more time with your beardie(s).

I look forward to seeing your pictures! Both of your dragons are lovely, and I hope that you have great luck finding a new addition to your beardie family :blob8: :blob5:.

Hi Jel! Thank you so much for reading about my gang. They are something else, but I think we all feel that way about our beardies. I'm sorry you've had such a rough week too - it stinks when everything just goes wrong all at once. Custard looks like a sweetheart!

Here are photos as promised!

Dresden's first attempt at being a man. I was NOT expecting it, but all is well!

DOH Dresden is all grown up! Look at Baxter trying to come in and make sure everything is all right!! Nezzies slow bobs and arm wave was so cute...careful there, I don't think she was objecting. You don't want to end up with a hundred babies! :p muwahaha

I KNOW! I was totally freaking out that she was going to spin back on him to be angry, but no. She liked being hit on by such a handsome man. She's now my loose legged lizard...she'll lift her tail for just about any cute scaly face

I really can't believe how BIG Dresden is. Today is his 7 month birthday! 384 grams and 16 7/8 inches :)

 Nice vid! It's funny that you got that on film. Baxter seems like a sweet kitty too. It's really awesome that Dresden has grown to be such a big charming man. Nezzie is beautiful by the way. She is such a lovely color.

Thanks Jelxxx! I'm super lucky with my cats. I have Baxter and Zoe who are brother and sister, and almost identical. Neither is aggressive towards the lizards at all, just super happy to have something else to smell!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
