So we had our apt complex meeting and they uped the pet policy to no animals. Unless court says that you have a condition, either physical or mental, and absolutely need that animal. Idk how its come down to this really but there is nothing I can do. Kinda makes me a bit disheartened to see that people will not be able to have a pet. I guess I understand but still. Well operation Hide-a-viv is a go everyone. I'll be making a "table" with cabinet doors starting next month.

That's stupid. It should be no pets for new people and no getting new pets for the current residents. What a bummer.

That's what many people said. I understand cats and dogs but why everything else. It's just the new policies for the new company that bought the apartments. I think there was a suggestion for that or maybe someone voiced their dislike.

But now so many people are going to leave because they can't have their pets and pets are like family.

Hope everything works well with the hiding until you figure out a better solution.

Yes, it should be grandfathered in that people who already own pets get to keep them, but no new tenant can have pets. they're going to have a war on their hands, a lot of people will be looking for new places, but I guess they don't care. Hopefully they're not going to give inspections, guess you have a place to hide her if they do? These new landlords sound like jerks! Good luck with the "hide a viv" project. Hope you find a better place to live!

There has always been a "no pet" policy in our building, yet everyone has a pet or two or three, or in my case 8 (6 dragons and 2 geckos). Never been an issue unless the dogs get out of control with barking. The only thing that got entered is no pit bulls, but those who were already here and owned pit bulls were allowed to keep them.

I completely agree about the grandfathered tenants. I've spoken to many people and they are going to petition it. We'll see how this goes. The apartment manager we had was a nice lady. She would probably allow us to keep our pets but just hide them away from the big bosses. The new one is a jerk however. All she does is sit in the office talking on the phone and rolls her eyes at us if we need her attention. Like SERIOUSLY?

The viv I'll be making will be a standard 4.2.2. However, the new feature will be cabinet doors that I can close if there happens to be an inspection. I was reading up on what they do during inspection time. They are only allowed to look through things that are theirs. :insert maniacal laugh here: It'll look like furniture that I bought. It's brilliant!

To be honest I really didn't want to do this. I have the means and money to care for her just not the place now. It makes me sad that I can't show her off anymore and where she could sit on the windowsill and look at all the passing people. We are planning to move to another place next year.

That's terrible! The new lady doesn't sound nice at all and if she's not good with people she shouldn't
be running the place. Hello! You are helping the big boss run the place you can't just turn people
away, you are going to be working with them, it's an apt building. Anyway, good
luck is on your side, Jez, they can't go through the cabinet that has her inside. Hide a viv is an awesome
idea. I agree on the grandfather idea, some people really don't care who they lose. I lived in an apt building
back in Cali and they valued everyone's opinion no dogs over 40 lbs ( I didn't have a dog at the time)
because someone got bit by a big dog so they ruled out big dogs over 40, of course tenants who already
had those big dogs were to be kept in doors and on a leash outside. The lady there didn't like lizards so when
she came to do an inspection of the place, Vash was to be in his cage in my room with the door closed. I paid $300 for a pet deposit so Vash can live with us but yet...poor lizard man had to be in a cage when she
came around...it was fair enough. Vash hated to go in his cage cuz the lady was coming. Glad it's looking up
for you ^_^

So tay tay isn't eating much. She refuses her worms now and I was wondering if it has something to do with brumation. Her reptisun 10.0 is new but she has been hiding more...she still wakes up but doesnt eat. My questions are:
Is this truly brumating?
Should I still turn on her lights and offer food?
Should I take her to the vet just in case?

You should read the article on Brumation on here, it's very thorough, I read it every fall to make sure. It could be, some dragons go down earlier than others, but I would still get her up in the am until she sleeps through that, then it's time to shut everything off. Make sure to offer her water while she's in brumation as they can get dehydrated. Baths or drinking from a syringe, whichever is easier for you. But read the article, it has a few scenarios.

Thanks sweetiepie9 I did check it out and she is showing signs. She pooped today but it smelled funny. As in gag sorta funny. I suspect parasites...i scheduled for an appointment but she is booked up until next month. Maybe I should get a diy kit from beardeddragons.co but I'll need to get her weighed again. Oh my expensive lizard.

Mine is definitely down, still wakes up in the morning to look around then back down he goes.
I hope it's not parasites...good luck to you.

I would definitely get her tested, can you not take a sample in to the vet? I can do that because she's seen all my dragons over the years, just drop it off & call in for results the next day, if meds are needed I just pick them up. So ask your vet if that's possible, if not then weighing & sending the sample to bd.co is a good idea. It's not good for her to be sleeping with parasites in her tummy. If you don't want her to bromate just yet, do what I do with Leo, who tends to be in his hide more than not. I always dig him out in the am & put him under his lights, offer him food and give him baths every 2 days. That's because he's not sleeping yet when he's in his hide. When he's sleeping in his hide, then I'll leave him alone, but that's how we start the fall off every year

Let's see where to begin. Oh she checked out fine at two different vets one of which was out of town and my cousin goes to for his reptile needs. I went to that one while the other was busy. I haven't smelled anything weird since that time either. I had to make sure. Lol so we had a bit of a bad few months. I was laid off and my fiance's income was the only thing supporting us. So I had to make some tough choices and I turned off my phone & internet. so it was pretty basic for while. I was able to make sure Tay-tay's lights and food was still given to her. I obtained a cheap tracphone for my basic calling needs. Just last week I was able to get a temp job and so I turned back on my internet. Tay-tay is doing well we bought another tank fir her while we build the wooden one. Her eating has slowed a bit. But every once in awhile she'll eat like her normal little piggy self. I did have pics of her 1 yr birthday but they got weirdly erased by my sdcard as I was trying to put them on my computer....
Here are some other pics:
Hmm thiz zeemed bigger the lazt time I waz on it.

I'm so glad she was tested clear & I'm sorry to hear you were laid off. It's really rough living on one income, I know, my husband wasn't able to work from the time my son was 10 yrs old, so we lived on my income from 1993 until 2009 when my hubby was able to apply for his pension. And we didn't have dragons back then, just my son and a cat. My mom helped out awhile, we'd had our own business which failed in 1993 and I was the only one able to find work. So if it wasn't for my folks, who paid for Eric's shoes and a lot of his clothes, it would have been much more difficult.

I'm glad you've been able to find temp work, hopefully it becomes permanent or you find a permanent job soon. I know the economic climate is difficult right now, so glad you're able to take care of Tay-Tay. She looks so cute climbing up the tree!

Thank you and I hope you feel better soon too. I had a little nest egg in the bank and it took care of most of tay-tay's food. I'm so glad I have someone who understands that no matter what Tay-tay comes first. And at least the veggies she like are the same ones we enjoy as well. Lol

We are currently debating moving states. Either Washington or Oregon to pursue our careers.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
