I've been worried about my beardie for a few weeks now as he had a few 'off' days where he didn't particulary want to be handled, then he stopped eating and for the last couple of weeks just lays in the cooler end of his viv! I have asked for help on various forums to no avail, I then emailed a friend of mine that has a beardie and he sent me a link for your brilliant caresheet 'Brumation in Bearded Dragons' by Denise Bushnell.... I now understand that what Freckles was doing was totally natural and that he is currently brumating!!!!!
Whilst I had more or less realised that this was probably what he was doing, this excellent caresheet confirmed it and listed the signs of brumation in easy 'laymens' terms, it also explained about keeping them hydrated and the lights/heat....information for which I found very conflicting elsewhere!
So, once again, a HUGE thank you to this forum and to Denise :love5: with immediate effect I will no longer look to other Beardie forums, I now know where to come for proper advice!
