I'm not sure, I'll just have to do a little shopping I guess. Thanks to both of you for the ideas!

I keep mine in a rubbermaid tub that I cut holes out in the top and added wire mesh so they can't get out. Had the wire mesh already and the tub cost me 7 dollars...comes with a lid. Do the walmart 10 gallons come with lids?

yes they do

Well, my pet store's had a sale on aquariums for a while... 1 dollar per gallon! So I was hoping to get a 40 breeder and save it for Kritz, but they were out! They had plenty of 55's, but those things were just so darn TALL! What do you think I should do, wait for a 40breeder (and possibly pay more on it) or go ahead and get the 55 on sale? Another question would be: If I get a larger aquarium, could I immediately move Kritz over to it? I was thinking that I'd give Kritz the big tank and keep the crickets in his current 20gal tank.

Also, a LOT of crickets that I bought from the store have died... there has to be around 15-25 of them dead in the keeper. Could it possibly be something I'm doing wrong, or should I just come to expect a lot of them to die prematurely?

And another strange thing, Kritz didn't have ANY appetite this morning, I offered him crickets and butternut squash that was put through a cheese grater, but he didn't want anything. Should I just pass this off as a once in a while "Eh, I'm not hungry" thing? I just went ahead and gave him his bath afterwards.

My sister's been busy, so I haven't had the chance to upload/take any pictures of Kritz lately. I really want to soon though. He's getting so big! He's also starting to develop some color on his back :)

*Edit* Just now saw Valex's answer on the Walmart 10gallons, thanks!

If they have a 55gal breeder buy it! Other wise its not worth it. They need the floor space, which the 55 gal doesn't have much of. Maybe call around to other pet stores and see if they have it, and can hold it. Its petco right?

I did just that! I called around and found a Petco that had a 40gal breeder. They said they'd hold it for me until I can pick it up Saturday which was GREAT, but to make things even better it'll only cost $40 because of their dollar/gallon deal! I'm so happy I found it ^_^

Now the only question remaining is whether I can move Kritz into it as soon as I buy it, or if I need to wait longer.

he wouldfeel overwhelmed if you stuck him in the large tank right away. Let him get a little bigger first or block of part of the cage.

Yay! :blob5: Thats awesome you got one so cheap!
From what Ive heard, he will be fine in it right away as long as he is fed in a seperate tank- Babies just wont be able to find food in a viv that big.
You can expect pet store crickets to die off pretty quickly. They arent as healthy as the ones you get online.
And Kritz is probably fine, as long as he doesnt seem really stressed or anything. What is the weather like? Some times on rainy/cloudy nasty days, they just dont want to wake up or eat.

Yeah, I'm glad I found that 40gal tank, and thank you for being happy for me too! :D

I'm thinking I'll just put Kritz into it as soon as I get it, what would you suggest to use if I want to 'block off' an area like Rukia suggests? I'll then use current 20gal to house the crickets. I guess I'll order 1000 from Ghann's as soon as I run out.

Kritz didn't eat dinner tonight, either :( Although the fact that weather could be an issue may be the explaining factor: The weather went from sunny to rainy back to sunny again in a matter of hours. So hopefully that's the only reason he didn't eat. It's too bad too, I gave him some butternut squash and he didn't even try it.

He has seemed to be a little skittish lately, though. He doesn't seem to be quite as interested in being held as he used to be :/ He seems to want to run around more than anything-- which I can understand, but the room I keep him in has just too many hiding places for a little guy like him. Not to mention he's shedding even more now, just when I thought he was done

Wow, long post. Oh well. Always looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say :D

well, I do have to say that my dude is 6 months old now and he is VERY active... he barely wants to be held and tries to run out of my hand to search the room and yesterday I took him outside and he RAN sooooo fast, he ran through the fence into the backyard of the house behind mine. I had to jump the fence super quick and catch him, I was so scared that he would get away. I haven't really let him loose ever because I am afraid that he will run away or get caught on something. but yea I am not sure but I am guessing that it's just something that is normal for bd's. but of course I am not sure!

Aw, maybe you oughtta buy one of those reptile leashes for him XD

I'm guessing it just depends on the beardie on how active they are. I guess ours are just really curious :D

It was raining here this morning, and Dudley has yet to move from his hammock... LOL :D
So yeah, the weather plus constant shedding is probably whats messing with his appetite. I wouldnt worry unless he becomes lethargic. You can give him some squash baby food too, it you want him to eat something.

Most people just use cardboard and probably some tape for blocking off cage sections. You dont need anything fancy, LOL

Excellent! I'll do that this Saturday when I pick up the tank. I'll send in a picture of it and see what you think too, along with Kritz pictures (I know I ALWAYS say that, but you have to realize just how much of a PROCRASTINATOR I am  )

Well, we're back from a college visit and I have the 40gal breeder now! I can't wait to put Kritz into it! Though I'll be blocking off about half of it. He seems pretty happy to see me again! :D

I finally put up some more pictures if you want to see them. They're all at photobucket. I'm still confused on how to post them here :/

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
