Well, the Petco I went to said they ran that $1/gallon sale periodically. So I honestly can't say when it will go on again :/

Things have been kinda slow lately, just same ol' same ol. I wanted to ask you guys something though. The 40 breeder I got is pretty much all set up (got about 1/4 of it blocked off, and it's got all its substrate set in) but I've hit a snag. The screen top to the tank has a really thin mesh, I don't think I can use the twisty ties to mount my UV bulb this time, any ideas?

Kritz has been doing good: eating like a horse and going to the bathroom like a factory... just today he went while he was lying on my shirt :x Heh, I still love him though :D

Do you have one of those sliding screen tops? (Im guessing thats what it is... Personally I dont like those LOL) You can get some Command hooks that stick to smoothe surfaces, and stick those right on the gladd where you want your UBV to be mounted. :D

That sounds like a good idea with the hooks but to be safe I would still do some loose wire because what if the glad sticky things get to hot? Over time wouldn't the stickyness start to become unsticky? Just a precaution I though of when I read that. I think its a fantastic idea though. But again I would use the wire as a precaution. The sticky gave me an idea for my UVB...thats awesome...thanks! I am going to take them and stick them to the wood in my cage then stick the bulb to it BRILLAINT! :blob5: :blob5:

Ah, that sounds excellent! Thanks for the tip! Yeah, the top is a sliding one. I found some heavy duty twisty ties today, so I'll put those on to reinforce the command hooks! That'll work nicely! :D

I didnt use any re-enforcements with my hooks, but my fixture is pretty light. I used 2 hooks that were rated for 1/2 lb. :D I used mine for a few months, and the stickyness never wore out. But I had to take it out when I adopted Dudley, because he could reach the light and he kept attacking it LOL!

I'm gonna go shopping for those hooks today. I may need some large ones because my light fixture's a bit bulky. Oh well.

Hah, I can imagine: "Shiny! Must kill!" Your Dudley sounds like quite the character!

These are a few days old. I've got Kritz in his new tank yesterday. I'll have to get a picture of that soon. I found some awesome hooks that snapped right onto my light fixture like they were made for it! :D No sticky hooks required!

Only problem now is that his basking spot isn't as hot now because the roof of the tank is a lot higher. It's only getting to about 97 degrees now :/ Should I go out and buy a CHE, or do you think a higher wattage bulb would do? Suggestions are appreciated :)

Another thing too, Kritz is ALWAYS pooping in his bowls, whethere it's his food or water bowl. So I've taken those out completely. Would it be ok if I put any food on a paper towel in his tank? Like squash and other veggies? Speaking of which, he ate some yellow squash today (didn't seem to care for the butternut). It was good news and bad news though, because he didn't eat many crickets (which is a bummer cuz they were covered in vitapowder :/)

for now you should be fine with a higher wattage bulb but if your house is below 60 in winter-night time get a CHE for that time period
That is my opinion
Oh and I LOVe the one of him on your shoulder all CREAMY WHITE on his bellY! He certainly is happY!

Picked up 2 new lights yesterday. I got a 90 watt and a 75 watt (was using a 60 in the smaller tank) The 90 watt had Kritz's basking spot to 135+ within barely a minute of me putting it in! So I thought "Definitely not that one!" and put in the 75. That one got his basking temp to around 107-108 which was right where it was previously in his smaller tank ^_^ . Refresh my memory though: Optimal basking temperatures are 100-115 correct? With around 85 on the cooler side (I never even see him on the other side anyway, he's ALWAYS basking :p )

Like the pictures eh? I'll try to get some more soon (which by Xanthur time means sometime within the month XD ) Yeah, Kritz sure has a white underside. He's so pretty! :D

Oh a hint, if you go with a higher wattage bulb, you can always get a plug in dimmer (you plug the light into the dimmer) and if it gets too hot or too cold you can adjust the light. We have that for both of our boys (and even the CHE)
My guys I never kept above 105 as they don't like it hotter thanthat. And the 20 month old dragon (hermes) likes it about95-99
