Tengu's great adventures

Hello all!

So, now my BD is 16 months old and she is at 42cm long and 355g. We believe she is fully grown and would like some advice on feeding.

Currently she gets fresh salad every day and 20 L size crickets once a day. Should we now start decreasing the amount of crickets? She LOVES them of course and salad is like a "Do I have to eat it?"

So any advice at the age she is at etc?

Thank you in advance

Cierra

Princess is being weird at the moment. She had an epic hand shake yesterday which was odd. I checked her movement which was fine so......

I don't know if its shed time or not as I cant see any.

Anyhow..... My light box arrived yesterday which I am very happy about :) I can now take photographs of reptiles under continuous soft light. Guess who my model will be

Look forward to showing you a picture later on!

Looking forward to seeing it.

So I had Cierra and Imp on my bed after I got home from my folks home from Easter lunch.

Well Imp took off and made his way almost to the bottom of the comforter at the bottom of my bed, so I grabbed him up because there are just too many hiding places in my bedroom. This is how he reacted:

And then he tried to bite me, even though it looks like he was calling for help

So I put him back into his tank and within a few minutes he'd calmed down again & was sitting under his light as if nothing had happened.

I got this shot earlier in the day, this blanket used to belong to my big boy Rubio, I kept it after he passed away and Imp loves to sit on it when he gets overheated:

Castiel has one, too, they're thick plush fleece, as it was a set that I bought for all the dragons I had at the time (back in 2011), 3 sets of race cars, 1 set of butterflies and this set of flames. Cierra has the butterflies, it belonged to my first dragon Sweetie Pie. The others belonged to Lonzo, Leo and Didi, who are all gone now....I still miss them all....

So funny how he is recovered and now a little BOY!!!

Great pictures, I love the one of Imp and Cierra!

Here are some of Tengu in the light box. She didn't care about it at all, in fact I think she enjoyed it!

Awww sweet girl, I know she enjoyed having her pictures taken. She looks good and has her belly back :D Yes, Imp is all boy!

I think Cierra is carrying eggs, she's getting all the signs, small poops, gaining weight without hardly eating, so guess it's time to get her lay box ready. She really wants to mate with Castiel, but I don't want her to.

Lay box!!! Argh I really don't want to get into that. I have read about it and it seems a lot of work, but of course needed if it happens.

You don't want them to mate because of too many lizards, not enough time?

I bet they are giving you the stink eye!!!

No I don't want them to mate because I can't afford to have babies to bring up & sell. No space, no $. And yes, Cierra loves to give me the stink eye when I won't allow Castiel out of his tank when she's out   Oh well, too bad, little girl

She sat there like "yep that's right"

Funny girl!

Oh my, I've learned not to let them out unless they do their business, but sometimes you just can't judge right. And she enjoyed that, too, I'll bet with that look :D

Yep!

Now she's trying to get out again and got stuck between rock and glass so I moved her and she's sat there like "what the..." LOL

She really loves being out of tank nowadays. It amazes me that she still tries even though she knows she can't!

As I'm typing this she is trying and her tail is up and she stopped took a deep breath and looked at me. Funny girl

They are very stubborn. I had to hunt down Castiel today, couldn't find him anywhere, he'd gotten stuck between the baseboard electric heater and the side table that Rocco's tank is on. Cierra went through there alot today but she's more than 100g less in weight than Castiel, he was tuck solid. Took me awhile to figure out where he was as it was a difficult place to find, figured it out when I heard him try to move, silly boy. Got him out, snuggled him and put him in his tank. He had newspaper in front of his hide front, so he couldn't figure out how to get through it  so moved it down and he went into his hide. Don't think he'll do that again! Luckily I had turned the heat off because it was warm outside today, so the heater wasn't actually on, or he would have been hot!

I tell you, they are always up to something!

WOW

That's scary! When Tengu has her little adventures and she gets stuck somewhere and just decides to sleep

She fell asleep wrapped in fleece earlier so I put her in tank and straight to sleep. Is this time normal at this time of year? 07:30 - 16:30 if not how do you keep them awake longer or is it just watch them and when tired eyes it is time?

Thank you

Seems normal, that's when my boys tend to want to sleep, even a bit later but around that time, their lights go off at 17:30 but except for Nathaniel who stays up later, they're all asleep by then. Even Imp heads straight for his hide as soon as his lights go off.

Thank you and interesting because when I first got her it was lights on for 12 hours (I read about it) and now it is around 9 - 10 hours. I guess it will be longer in the summer.

It is honey worm day, she doesn't know it but I know she will be super happy :D It is almost like she is waiting everyday for it!

Stubborn beasts!!

I was told that, too, but I've never had lights on more than 9 or 10 hours, ever and usually 8 hours. In the summer, the UVB lights are on less because it gets very hot in the living room. So right now the lights got off later because it's still cool out and they're up longer because it's the beginning of spring. When it gets hot, July/Aug, I have the lights go off at 14:30 as it just gets too hot. It's still light out, so they stay up, but they get relief from the heat in their tank. It can climb up to over 35C in my living room and I don't have air conditioning, even my crested gecko gets too hot and she's close to the hallway, the coolest part of my apartment. I don't do this for long, about a month or so, as it never stays hot here for long, but just for that time period. I also try to give them daily baths during that time, too, so they don't dehydrate. Sounds like it never gets too hot in your place, so you can keep the UVB on later, plus you use the tube, so it never heats up, you can turn off the basking bulb. It's different when you have a mercurty vapour bulb, heat and UVB in one bulb, but it's the only time I turn it off so early.

I got cleared lungs/heart wise today by my specialist. He said there was some scarring in my lungs, because I used to get bronchial asthma when I was smoking and had a cold. I quit smoking 14 years ago but I did smoke for 36 years. I'm lucky that I don't have COPD! So all in all, it's mainly allergies that have been causing the lung issues, get another CT scan in July to keen an eye on the nodules (scarring). Otherwise I'm fine. He gave me a nasal spray that works great to clear out my nose of sinus drip, which was also caused by allergies (I have alot of outdoor allergies, grass, shrubs, trees, so spring is an awful time for me. I also have dust mite and house mite allergies, so take antihistamines all year round). My mom has severe allergies that started over 30 years ago, so I don't want to go there, I'm hoping the nasal spray continues to work.

Dragons were all good today, no-one stuck anywhere, which was a relief. I sure enjoy being home, it's going to be sad to be back at work on Monday. I keep hoping time will slow down, but not yet

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
