She looks wonderful, can't believe she's the same dragon you brought home! :blob5: :blob8: :blob5: I'm sure she'll have a healthy vet visit and so will Golly.

That's what I do too, clean out the sinks between baths. As for Lonzo, I couldn't believe his previous owner didn't think there was anything wrong with his tail, as it turned into tail rot. I watched it carefully when I got home & when I saw it move up got him straight to the vet & she took another 2" off, so he lost just over 5" total on his tail. Poor boy, he'd be 20" long without that missing.

So keep up the good work. Did you eventually get silkworm eggs? Or stay with crix. You should ask your local petshop about getting more crix at a time, anything we bought over 500 we got a good discount on, so ask about that. Otherwise you're going to be going to the petshop more often than you'd like!

I bath the dragons in the tub with a cloth and two rocks for them to climb on if they want. Jade loves to swim around and then chill on the rocks. When shes ready to come out she will usually climb on my hand and thats her way of saying "Im done!!!". Golly hates being the bath water, so its a fight with him in it... hahaha

I cant imagine dealing with an issue like that!!! Jades tail is a big enough issue for me to deal with... Any more issues with her and I think I would go bonkers!

I havent gotten the silkworm eggs, Ive had issues with my funds the past few weeks so I cant get the eggs or the chow - Im also going on an 8 day cruise at the end of February so I need to bank money for that. So, Ive stuck with crix for now. The last batch of 100 that I bought have lasted me so far, Ive fed the dragons every day with the crix and salad, and thats 'woken' Golly up and now he wanders around more. He still doesnt glass dance, but at least hes walking around... Jade goes nuts when she sees my home made cricket duster! She literally jumps at it to get at the goodies inside!

I figure the 100 crix will last me the better part of a week, which is fine with me so long as I can maintain them that long - my building has Pharaoh ants and those LOVE crix. So I have to watch how I keep the crix and where - too close to the dragons and I end up with 1/8"ants on and around the dragons! The building is being treated for the ants starting on thurs and fri. So hopefully that will solve the issue!

Our second dragon Tiny is missing about six inches of his tail so all he has is a nub and he ALWAYS wags it, especially when he's excited about something. I don't know how common it is and it used to bother me because I thought maybe something was wrong but his nub doesn't bother him at all. My boyfriend swears he thinks he's a dog or something cause there's been several times we walked in the room and as soon as he saw us he would start wagging his tail. Our vet just told us he has more control over his tail and that's why he seems to be wagging and none of ours that have full tails do anything even similar to that. I don't know how true it is though.

Thats so weird! and comforting knowing that Jade is 'normal' as far as thats concerned. I know Jade likes to move her tail from side to side instead of raised up like Golly and every other dragon Ive owned has done... She moves her tail like a snake. Its usually laid down and curled around herself...

This is why dragons are known as scaley puppies, because of their tails wagging (which mine do all the time, especially if they're excited about something) and their stance. So it's completely normal, so enjoy the show!

Thanks, I have never seen it before so it kind of freaked me out.

Cool though that they can do that!

I haven't seen beardies wagging their tails either but I've read about it before now.

Ive only seen Jade do it, and that was just the once so far... I had never heard of it prior to this though.

Soooo Jades been in "shed" mode for a while now...

Her back, belly, 4 legs, tail, and head had all gone pasty in colour and then last night and today... shes shed almost all of it off!

I helped her a bit with some troublesome areas but I let her do it at her own pace and now shes got BRIGHT colors!

The top of her head is coral yellow/tan. Her beard is crimson, yellow and orange. Her throat is a redish hue, and her legs are yellow to dirty green (like a neon green). Her back is brown and tan in colour...

Heres an image of her just before she shed the majority of it today.

As you can see - I added white mac-tak to the back and sides of her viv - to give it some more color and such... Like Golly's viv. The crix cant climb this either - so that keeps them down on her level.

So, over all... Its been a good day! Im very proud of her for shedding sooo much today!

Boy, what an awesome difference from when you first got her, she's got a belly now and you can see all her wonderful colours and she's a happy healthy girl, now, instead of almost a skelton. She's so lucky you found her, she knows she's in heaven now! It was wonderful of you to take her in and look at the result!

So at PetSmart today I was reading that earthworms are ok to feed beardies... So I'm wondering how 'good' they are for them???

I figure I can dust them and 'up' their calcium if they are decient for them...

I always thought earthworms, dew worms, blood worms, etc weren't good for beardies to eat...

If they are good enough then I can save a crap load of money on feeders cause my building doesn't use pesticides so I can obtain them with out any issue!!!!

I don't know why some people just leave beardies like they can fend for themselves they have to be properly taken care of. :( hope she gets well soon. :)

She's improved by leaps and bounds!!! I've posted the link to my fb album of Jade since I got her - the 1st 6+ are of when she was deathly thin... Now, now she's really healthy! I'm taking her to the vets in April to get her tested for parasites and check her weight... She's had 2 sheds since Oct/Nov when I acquired her. This last one was pretty much a full body shed over a few days.

Her colors have appeared more and more vibrant lately as well. When I got her she was dark tans, browns, and greys. Now, she's reds, orangesn yellows, and some tans and a few splotches of brown - but the brown is turning redder as the days go by. :D

Thanks for your well wishes!!!!!!

So to answer your questions about earthworms, dew worms, not good for beardies, but butterworms are. So are supers. I know silkworms are expensive, I know you've gotten them before and hornworms are just as expensive. Did you find a source for crickets in bulk?

Please don't listen to ANY info given out by pet shops, they are usually wrong. I can't get over the mis-information that's given out. My hubby used to work in a petshop part-time and had care sheets for the beardies and geckos he took care of, and was always in fights with the manager as he always wanted to do the wrong things & not feed the baby dragons what they needed. The pet shop I've been going to for 6 years has recently started listening to me, it's just that it costs them $ to give the beardies the right lights, etc, so they don't. I just get so upset about it all, I just do what I can. I wish there was a way to get these shops to care for their reptiles the way they're supposed to and I really don't know where they get all these bad ideas from. Sorry for venting, it's a sore point!
