Temps for Dubias

I just started my colony of Dubias, got around 300 to start the colony and about 16 adult pairs. I was wondering how my temps are, I measure with IR temp gun. It is 85-95 in hot spot under the egg crates, to heat the tub I put it on top of my dragons cage over the 100 watt Mega Ray MVB and it gets perfect temp, I was wondering about at night though because my house is around 70 degrees at night and obviously the light isn't on. Is this ok for breeding if it is cooler for 11 hours?

BTW My dragon is absolutely CRAZY for dubias, she would only eat crickets every other day but she would eat a lot, now she eats every day and would eat all 300 in a day if she was given a chance...she runs around like crazy and runs into the glass when I get the tub down. Her weight has gone up a lot in the last 2 weeks. Now shes 7 months, 17.75 inches and 349 grams.

Your temps are good during the day, but Dubia are most active at night and temp is important for breeding. My colony is big enough to sustain our dragon, so I have eliminated external heat to help slow down breeding. While they don't get the 95 degree heat they need for optimal breeding, they still breed at 70 degrees just a lot more slowly.

So, if you want your breeders to hurry up and produce lots of babies I would recommend you provide heat for them 24/7.

Hope that helps,

Eric
