Tearin' up the cage

I'm home all day right now, so I get to see all the action in the beardie cage. My female has been running all over around in her cage, clawing at the walls, and trying to climb up the vents. I have fake leaves and plants in there and she scatters them. Then when she stops, she just stares at me. Does your beardie do this? When she does it, I'll take her out and she relaxes.

Yes she's in with a male, but he's not doing anything to her. He's just basking, watching her, and wondering what she's doing. She's healthy and everything.

Sound to me like pre egg laying behavior. How long have they been together. Beardies will claw and run around trying to get out because they are looking for a place to dig and bury the eggs. Does she ever scratch the floor in the corners of the cage?

Or she could be wanting to get away from the male because he is overbreeding her which is very common and is a reason why not to keep male and female together for long periods of time. That might be why she calms down when you take her out.

I've had both of the together for four years. The male isn't showing any interest in her. I separate them if I see any issues, but there hasn't been any. I don't know why she does this. I feel her belly all the time and there isn't any eggs in there. Plus, she has always done this.

I am having the same problem, and the vet advised that hormone can make them want to dig even bore the eggs are formed, or with no eggs at all, app its hormones??

Lou will run around his tank before he goes to sleep and after he poo's

lol im pretty sure he does it after he poo's so i'll clean it right away,
and he does it before he goes to sleep to get a little bedtime snuggle
so demanding :roll:
