Tame Time!

Well ive decided to tame Charlie, but what do i need?
-Treats
-Garden Gloves?
-Skill

Lol is that all i need? His quite vicious and his bite HURTS
Please dont tell me to give him up because his vicious, i just could'nt do it, i love him soooo much!

A vicious bearded dragon? Honestly, I'd cherish him...their placid behavior can get old after awhile. But as far as taming, just handle him every day, and let him get used to your presence. Perhaps sit down and read a book by the enclosure. If you are younger, then doing your homework where he can see you will acclimate him towards people, and you in general. Don't over do it though...he still needs to spend time in his enclosure, so perhaps keep the handling to less then 30 minutes a day at first, and as he calms down increase it to about an hour. Food is a good way to get on their good side....hand feeding being the key. Don't over do it with the treats though...you'll spoil him and make him less likely to eat is regular diet.

I've never really heard of a vicious beardie. How hold is he? I have 3, got them at all different ages, 7 months, 5 months, and 5 weeks, and have never got a mean one.. maybe skiddish, but not mean.

Ok so the story is......
His previous owners took him from the wild about 1-2years ago, but they didn't want him anymore so I rescued him from them. He was under weight and wasn't getting fed properly, they also never let him out. He was going good for a while but then he just suddenly changed???
Now his aggressive and goes to bite me! I love him to death so there's no way I'm getting rid of him. I just want him back to normal

Isn't it illegal to keep wild animals as pets in AUS? Anyways, when did the behavior change? Did he brumate this year? Could be a hormonal thing, or it could be health related. He been to a vet recently?

Well if he's truly from the wild I'd say he's probably doing his normal wild animal thing :shock: But in either case, a good tactic is to have food ready, so if he goes to bite you you put the food in his mouth instead of your finger. I've heard of people doing this with some success. Also try putting a well worn shirt that smells like you in his viv so he can get accustomed to your scent.

Nope its not illegal
Umm he was shedding last month?
I picked him up last night, he wasn't to bad but i dont think he was too happy. I have also been sitting near his cage, reading some stuff to him and he looks interested lol.
I shall give it another try today!

P.S Reading to him seems to help!
