OK...I read that you guys take your BD's outside a lot. Im kinda scared to take Fred outside. Are there things outside that could really harm him? Also, we have a lot of fireflies here in Atlanta and Im wondering if those are out and about in the daytime? I know he needs sunlight and natural light is best, but im a little sketchy about taking him out and letting him wander in the grass. Tell me it will be fine.

I don't usually let my Roku wonder around in the grass due to all the ants outside along with the chances of me losing him. If you have a harness, I would suggest using that when taking Fred outside, when I put the harness on Roku he knows it's time to roll out and he gets a little excited. I let him wonder on the tiles outside, he usually just picks a spot and basks right there (I always make sure to place my hand where he is to make sure it's not too hot). As for fireflies, I believe they are nocturnal and come out during the night and rest during the day. Another great thing to do if it's hot out beside letting him bask it to break out the kiddie pool and let him play in the water.

I put mine in a see through rubber tub, tall enough he can't jump out, and take him out like that.

You also need to be aware of any weeds/flowers/plants that may be growing in your yard. Some plants are toxic and could cause issues if he was to eat any. Grass, clover, plantain and dandelions are all safe to eat. I never worry about ants except the really big ones, ladybugs are another toxic bug to watch out for and frogs aren't safe either.
Always use a leash or tub so they can't run away. If he is small, a tub will work but get a leash as soon as he is big enough so he can play in the grass.

I use a hamster cage to take mine out since they are still a bit small for a leash. I just stay with them and watch out for nasty buggies.

That is what we have to do. The box elder bugs are a real worry here so I don't think Razz will ever be able to romp in the grass as long as we are living where we are :(

since Archer is pretty calm, i used to take him out without anything, just held him in my hand, or let him sit on my shoulder. of course i would watch him closely. if he was being antsy i'd bring him inside immediately. then i ordered a dog purse with a mesh zipper top, so i carry him around in that (i've even taken to taking him on errands with me--he loves his car rides).

he's finally big enough to fit in his small harness, so now i take him outside in that, which makes me much less anxious.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
