Hello everyone, I just got my beardie 2 weeks ago. His name is Mushu (like the dragon in Mulan) and I am already in love with him! When I got him, however, his tail was black at the tip. In this Pic, hopefully you can see what I am talking about.
About one or two days later, this tip fell off. This worried me but there wasnt any blood, or infection. However, I was still worried and found out that it might be tail rot. So, I then went to the store and bought him some betadine and no pain relief neosporin. I have been treating his tail every day/ every other day for 5 minutes in the diluted betadine. This is his tail today. It seems to be getting better, but maybe it is just wishful thinking. (It is shiny because I put Neosporin on it)
I was hoping to get some opinions about this. Here is some more information about his set up:
Set Up: As you can see in the first picture I have a carpet in his terrarium. He currently has a 20 gallon tank.
Lighting: UVB Reptisun 10.0 Basking Light 100 W that also provides UVA
Temperature and humidity: Gets up to 105 degrees air temp, not sure what the basking spot is at but I am ordering a temp gun soon.
His cool side is at 85 usually and gets down to 80
His temps at night are a little high at times during the night because I live in Louisiana where our humidity is 91 Percent on most summer nights. I use a heater that doesnt emit any light. I try to keep his humidity below 40 and also have a dehumidifier in my room.
Diet: He has been eating around 7 dubia roaches on average per feeding. I feed him his roaches twice a day. He also eats around 12 phoenix worms a day on average. I also give him kale and have been trying to feed him carrots, squash, berries, bananas and other various plants that bearded dragons are able to eat, but the only thing he likes is kale so far. I dust everything he eats with calcium powder.
Behavior: He seems very active. I have been letting him out to play for about 20 minutes at a time and he loves it. He is not aggressive towards me and is not lethargic or lazy at all. His is very alert. He also has been pooping every day.
Sorry if this is too much information or not enough. Let me know of any improvements I need to make! Thanks so much in advance for helping me with Mushu!
