Just found Putzy in his cave with a mouthful of sand. He's unresponsive, eyes closed and mouth partially open. I cleaned out as much of his mouth as possible, dribbled water in to it to clear it and he did vomit up a bunch of sand and some of his babyfood from his lunch. He has been very slow to resume eating this year, no greens and only a couple of worms every couple of days. He's not impacted, had a big poop and urate yesterday but he had gone almost a week since his last one. What can I do to help him?

Thank you for your reply, but Herr Major von Putz, is gone. The sand was just inside his sleeping cave, he liked to wiggle into it at night. The rest of his tank was tile. He was only 4 years old. I feel like such a failure.

Oh wow and am going to be honest what a foolish mistake. Nobody should use sand for dragons better off using repti carpet theres a sticky nail issue there but alot better then this. Tile to me is best but very hard and afraid to use it cause its so hard. Sorry man sand just p's me off so many ppl use the stuff and am mainly new to dragons and new that right off the bat.

Perhaps she wasn't informed of it? Stop beating her up. You weren't informed of it until you asked, so don't go around saying she was wrong and she should have known by instinct.

slavetoIzzie, I'm sorry for your loss. People/Petshops should really stop advertising sand as a good substrate. Many people are misinformed by that.

I think that something else was wrong that caused this. I don't think it was the sand. From the way his first post described it, something else caused this, not just the sand.

Terminator, you may have known that, but you have so many posts on here asking for help, so DO NOT judge others, that comment was bang out of order. I think you need to apologise to slavetolizzy!!

I wasn't beating up anyone or her just should of known. I bought my dragon and got the second stupidly and knew not to use sand i dont know how but i knew and never read a thing about them. I said what i feeled about this topic and Vermunder better watch yourself dont appreciate your attitude about my post. Also if your using tile then why even use sand most be the tile gets cold or something at night but add a piece of cut carpeting. Just doesnt make sense to me and a dragon lost his life but i shouldnt talk mine prob will die soon any how. But not for a stupid mistake like this. Also i am not apolizeing cause i dont feel i should.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
