surgery to remove home after radiation treatment

Just an tiny update. I can't really tell if the redness and swelling is much better. It's definitely not worse so that is a good thing. To us it really looks less red deep in his skin but the eyelid is still not his usual yellow either. So we are not sure. We haven't heard back from the radiation center in Columbus. The radiation doctor should be back from vacation today so I hope to get the call today.

That really sucks, just read through everything. I hope that the swelling is just an infection as well. I havent lost a pet to cancer in a while and i was little so i didnt understand what was going on but i know what it feels like to worry about your best scaley buddie. Hopefully if you guys do the radiation therapy it gets rid of the cancer without any ill effects after wards.

I guess the radiation doctor is trying to decide if they can safely do treatments on a bearded dragon. It sounds like they must put him under anesthesia to do the treatment. To me that sounds pretty dangerous for a beardie. So I don't know.

A good update for a change.

The redness and swelling is definitely better. It is such a relief. Maybe miracles can happen. Neato even took his meds no problem this morning. We know the cancer can still come back but I'm just so happy to see the improvement.

Both Neato's eye areas have shed and I can see the redness is completely gone.

Neato got his miracle for now. The specialist vet had said there was a tiny chance it was just a infection but I could tell he wasn't very hopeful of that. I am so happy. I know the cancer cells can still come back but Neato eyelid swelling and redness was not the cancer returning this time.

Just wanted to comment on your thread.
I am so glad that Neato's eyelid is looking so much better now. It sounds like he is improving quite a bit, so hopefully the cancer wont be back for a long time.

Just a small update for anyone following Neato's story.

I took Neato back to his regular vet yesterday. She was very happy with how he looked. He can shut his eye all the way so I can stop giving drops. His mouth looked good so I can stop the antibiotic. All the redness and swelling was gone above his eye but she thought the bad eye right at the tear duct was slightly bigger than the other eye but it could be from scar tissue. He had even gain a little weight .

She has talked to the radiation doctor twice and the Radiation doctor is trying to figure out the best way to do treatments. It sounds like she thinks putting a radiation bead?? in is the safer way but she doesn't do that and is trying to find someone else who does on reptiles. So I guess we are still playing the waiting game for now but the good thing is the cancer is not visibly back.
