Surgery Scheduled for Tomorrow

Hi Beardie Parents,

I can't imagine the pain of losing five bearded dragons. Losing Quincy is unbearable.

Before I came here, I went to check on him and tell him good morning like I do every day and ask him if he wanted to outside because today is such a nice day outside and i look in his enclosure expecting to see his bright eyes and he's gone. And now I can't stop sobbing. I miss him so much my heart hurts.

I understand. It does help when you have another one to cuddle.

I do agree with Beardie Parents in the respect that it does help fill a void to have another to cuddle. When Geico died I had to go get some crickets for Emily and stopped, out of habit, to look at the babies and there was Emmett glass dancing and waving and I knew I had to have him. I did not forget I had just hours beforehand lost Geico and still had him to bury. But my heart exploded when I watched Emmett and just had to bring him home. He filled a void in my heart and I had a very hard time putting him in Geico's tank after it was thoroughly cleaned. I still shed some tears over Geico and will never forget the joy he put into my life. I also knew in my heart, that I could not look at his cold empty tank. Emmett wormed his way into my heart and has brought me joy in a different way than Geico did. I have no regrets getting Emmett the day Geico passed on. Another to cuddle has a way of healing the heart. I was ready as soon as I saw him, you will be ready when your heart tells you that you are. Your baby is waiting for you, hes running around in beardie heaven, whole and happy just waiting to see his mommy again. You have a beardie angel on your shoulder and those angels footprints all over your heart. It will get easier but you will never forget him and having a new baby to love will in no way affect how you feel or love your first baby.

I wish we could afford the time, energy, and money to have another beardie, but it will be some time in the distant future before we can. Right now, we have a newborn daughter. (She was a surprise. I found out I was pregnant a month ago. I was in the hospital giving birth and recovering when Quincy had his rapid decline.)

Because she will never get to know Quincy, we are hoping that one day she will want to have her own beardie baby. We are going to tell her stories and show her the pictures and videos we have of him.

Burying him has given us a sense of closure for now. We faced him towards the intersection he enjoyed watching and planted a palm tree in his memory. The palm tree has spikes. His favorite log marks his resting place.
