Superworm help

Hey guys! So today I got my first shipment of superworms. I've been mainly ordering crickets for Mohinder, but both me and Mohinder got sick of them so we had to switch it up. In come the superworms. Tested out the waters, gave him some, everything moved nicely and he seemed to enjoy them. I bulk ordered 1000, made them a mixture of cornmeal and oatmeal run through a food processor and put that in a giant cleaned out pickle jar. Today my shipment came in. Everything goes smoothly, put them into the jar, but now they aren't burrowing into the mixture. They're all just at the top (minus a handful) acting crazy. Is there anything I'm doing wrong here? They got all mixed up in the oats/corn meal by my friend who isn't as grossed out as I am by them so I could put some carrot in on top of it, but they all got back up to the top. Anything I can do to fix this? This is my first time with them so I'm not 100% on how to take care of them, so any tips you have on that as well would definitely be appreciated. Thanks!

They are either over crowded or too hot.

A large pickle jar? The image that comes to my mind is something way too small.

http://i.imgur.com/s8vYsNd.jpg I'm not sure how to do the picture thing, but that's the set up I have going on with comparison to Nutella but I can definitely move them to something bigger if need be. I read that it could be heat so I moved them away from where Mohinder is kept and away from heat lamps and such and they're still at the top so it's probably overcrowding.

Definitely over crowding.

I keep 1k in a drawer this size:

Beardie for size reference

about an inch-inch and a half of substrate

I forgot the exact dimensions but I believe it's about 12x8'' or something along those lines.

If you have 10g tank or some other like rubbermaid bin you could put them in, that would be better for now.

http://i.imgur.com/AaHhw0d.jpg is this better? I have a big tubberware but it's still a bit gross from crickets and would take a bit more disinfecting and it's late, so I can do that tomorrow if you don't think that this is a good permanent fix.

Okay, do you think it's a permanent fix, or should I transport them to a bigger tub? Thank you so much for the help, by the way :)

You're most certainly welcome.

That can be permanent as long as they don't seem to be overcrowded. It's hard to tell from the picture, but I'm sure you can decide.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
