Starting colony of superworms...tips?

I've been doing nothing for the past 4 days (that I've been home from the hospital) but researching how to better care for my new baby. I have a terrible phobia of bugs, but I also like money!!! I think I'm going to start this off right, start breeding superworms now while he's young so I won't regret not doing it later.

Does anyone have any info on this? I looked into dubias and frankly...I dont think I could handle that...I'd probably throw up. I figured I'd start myself off easy by doing worms. What types of containers are best for separating them for pupation; how many containers should i have to start a decent size colony; size of containers of adults and eggs; how many lights do i need and what wattage works best etc. Thanks guys

Sorry if this sounds condescending, but are you aware that worms turn in to beetles, and pretty big ones at that? It is just that you mention you can´t do bugs, yet you still have to deal with them with superworms.

in answer to your other questions, you dont need any lights. It doesn´t mater about the containers for pupae, whatever you can get. I use an organiser box for screws and nails and stuff, which has 20 compartments. You could use one of them or a pill box, or film canisters. Anything about that size really.

If I were you, Iwould start of with a small colony first off and see if you can handle the beetle side of things. Pupate 20 worms (of which a couple will probably die) and see how you feel about things once they turn to beetles. If you can handle that, then add another 20-30 and start from there.

There is a massive thread on here about breeding superworms, have a read through that it will answer pretty much anything.

the one thing that i think you will need is PATIENCE.... worms seem to take longer than roaches, but worms are a little easier to take care of i think....good luck....
