Your messages made me feel better. I was unable to sleep wondering over and over if I should have done things differently for Starfire. He was such a magical little Beardie and I loved him deeply
When my Dad was in Hospice two years ago, the doctor's described the concept of "Palliative Care". I feel that I did my best to keep Starfire comfortable, warm and safe as he was passing. As he took his final breaths, he appeared to be falling asleep. He passed around 1 am and I so glad that I stayed up to be with him.
My husband and I placed Starfire's body in a little peanut jar. He was wrapped in soft cotton balls. At 1:30 am (New York time) I watched out the window as my husband buried Starfire under our lovely lilac bush in the front yard. I must admit, I felt really lucky to have a husband who would go outside in his pajamas to bury a tiny Beardie in the middle of the night.
It is nice to have a site like this where other people love Beardies as much as I do!!
