So I've heard and read on here various times that a beardie will very rarely turn down butternut squash, and is a good staple not to mention a great treat for them. . How do you go about preparing it for them? (I'm 28 and have cooked maybe 10 days in my life, so bear with me   ) My boyfriend's beardie has only ever been fed crix and blueberries, that I'm aware. He was fed babyfood prunes when he had trouble digesting food, and LOVED it. I have a feeling he likes fruit but I'm afraid to feed him strawberries because of the seeds, he's had impaction troubles in the past. He will not touch greens (trust me, we've tried) and I kind of want to give him something tasty and healthy that he will enjoy.

Do I buy the stuff whole from the store in the veggie section, then bring it home and chop it up into little pieces? raw or cooked? Or should I start with babyfood squash and drip a little on his nose for him to try?

Buy the whole thing and when you prepare it cut one slice off and cut it into inch long pieces. You can put it into the microwave for a few seconds to soften it up but mine doesnt like that so i feed it to him raw and he loves it. It lasts a long time in the fridge too.

What I do is get a fresh squash and a cheese grater. Cut off a thick slice and use a knife or peeler to take off the skin. When you grate it, use a side that will give you small strips, not little mushy shreds. Then it's ready to be fed! :D

I also use a cheese grater on one side there is a slicing part that works great. My girls love it! Mine also like yellow squash and zuc

There are so many ways to cook squash it's not even funny. If you're looking for a firm but manageable texture, grate it as said above. And raw squash/zucchini lasts notoriously long in the fridge in tupperware.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
