Something is definately wrong, help please!

okay, i just got my baby beardie about roughly a month ago. everything seemed fine. he was eating all of his vegetables, and he went crazy over the crickets. hes very active and loves laying in my hands with his head rested on my fingers. lately ive been noticing he doesnt bask as much as he use to, it seems like he tries to stay out of his light more than usual. when i came home tonight, i went to get him out of his cage and he didnt want to move. he seems like hes stiffening his body up. he wouldnt lay his head down, he hasnt opened his eyes at all. i tried giving him some of his lettuce an he wants nothing to do with it. the crickets from the last two days died in that cage because of him not wanting to eat them. and i never seem to notice him drinking, ever. ive only ever seen him lay in his bowl maybe three times since ive had him. ive been told that they drink from their dish but then i was told you are to spray the sides of their cage amd theyll drink the beads of water. ive been doing both just incase because i wasnt sure what to believe. but ive never seen him drinking either way. this is the first beardie ive ever had and ive gotten so attatched to him, and he really has me worried that something may be wrong. please if anyone knows what could be causing him to act like this, letting me know or giving me any tips would be GREATLY appreciated. thank you.

I'm sorry to hear your little one is going through this. What kind of uvb light are you using? Brand? Tube/coil? How old is it? How far away from your dragon is it?

A lot of times the wrong light causes problems exactly like what you are describing but once its corrected they turn right back around!

his light brand is 'zilla'
his cage height is 12" in height and its on top of his cage. i have his wood in the cage though, it goes all the way to the top but its right under his basking light.

The Zilla Reptiglos have been known to cause a lot of health problems including eye damage. I recommend turning it off all together and just using the heat bulb for now until you can get a ZooMed ReptiSUN 10.0 tube light. No uvb for a couple days is a lot better than bad light. Petmoutain.com has really good deals on them and some petsmarts carry them as well if you don't want to wait on the shipping.

I think you will see a completely different dragon when you get the light changed out. They usually perk back up in a day or so.

yes get rid of the light maxwell had a zilla light and got really sick from it like you are sayig and about 24 hours after i turned the light off he got better ! so it will happen another thing dont use both the water dish spraying your dragon and the sides of the tank thats way too much humidity for them,just choose one i leave a water dish in the tank for maxwell on the cool side and he actually drinks from it like a dog would..or sitting in it is drinking too as they drink from their butt..hope he gets feeling better
